About Nicex – Creative Portfolio Theme
A creative portfolio has a problem few people admit: visitors decide within a few scrolls whether to hire you, and most themes force a choice between a showy site that is heavy and sluggish or a clean site that looks like yet another template. Nicex bets on visuals, with large featured images, soft animations and an asymmetrical grid, designed for people who earn a living showing their work.
Your work sells by the order in which it is seen
A designer, a photographer or a small agency does not compete on having more projects, but on which one the client sees first. A portfolio with everything at the same size says "look at whatever you like", and the visitor in a hurry leaves without looking at anything. The asymmetrical grid in Nicex lets you set a hierarchy: one large project, others smaller, and a path the visitor does not have to invent. The grid colors can be customized, and the theme includes light mode and dark mode, which suits photographic or design work where the background matters.
Nicex inside: sections, headers and ready-made blocks
The front page is built from several sections, with Elementor as the visual builder, without touching code. Among the blocks it includes are the slider (with parallax and a video background from YouTube, Vimeo or your own .mp4), the hero section, the image gallery, the team, testimonials, the pricing table, Google Map and a text ticker.
- Eight navigation layouts: default menu, button menu, full-screen menu, fixed header, default header and smart sticky header, plus offcanvas navigation and mega menu compatibility.
- Masonry blog: posts are shown in columns of varying height, useful if you publish case studies with images of different sizes. Post formats are there to showcase multimedia content.
- AJAX filters and pagination: so visitors can filter projects by category without reloading the page.
- Typography and footer: full control over Google fonts and unlimited footer layouts.
- Included extras: Contact Form 7 for forms, ACF Pro for custom fields and a child theme so your changes survive.
What to know before choosing it
Nicex is designed around Elementor: its blocks and workflow revolve around it, so if you prefer the WordPress block editor it is not the best option (the theme listing does not mark it as Gutenberg optimized). Nor is it a store: it says it is ready for WooCommerce, but its focus is the portfolio, not selling a catalog. And translation into several languages relies on a .pot file and on WPML, which is a separate plugin.
Frequently asked questions about Nicex
Is it suitable for a photography portfolio?
Yes, it fits: large featured images, gallery, dark mode and lazy loading of images. Even so, check in the demo how your own photos behave at full size.
Can I build it without coding?
Yes. It is customized with the live customizer and Elementor, and requires no code.
Does it work on mobile?
It is responsive and ready for retina screens, with a design adapted to desktop, tablet and mobile.
Can I set it up in another language?
Yes, it is translation ready with its .pot file and with WPML.
Does it include a contact form?
It comes with Contact Form 7, which lets you create your own forms. Beyond the form, it also offers Mailchimp support.
The demo pages do not appear by themselves: you build them with the helper
The theme works together with its own plugin, Nicex Helper, which provides part of the blocks and the portfolio content types. Install and activate it along with the theme, and activate Elementor too, because without them the front page will not look like the demo. If you want a result close to the demo, plan your projects with a good-sized featured image and check the slider with a video background on mobile, which is the heaviest part of a front page.
