About OperationCode WordPress Theme

A tech event expires the day it ends, and its website shouldn't

Building the website for a conference, a hackathon or an IT event usually ends in a page that only works in the weeks before: a countdown, a ticket button and then a "no upcoming events" notice that convinces nobody. OperationCode starts from that problem. Its demo is the website of a cybersecurity hackathon and also includes the pages that keep the event alive between one edition and the next: past editions, testimonials and team.

Here is what few organizers notice: next year's edition is sold with what happened in the previous one. Someone who hesitates over buying a ticket looks for real speakers, attendee opinions and signs that the event is still going.

Countdown, speakers and ticket table: the pieces of the call for attendees

The demo gathers the elements an event announcement needs:

  • Countdown timer.
  • Person cards for speakers and team, with name, job title and a quote.
  • Pricing table, which the demo uses to present tickets by number of days.
  • Counters, circles and blurbs.
  • Testimonials module, which in the demo shows reviews from past years.
  • Contact form and maps to collect questions.

There are also accordions, tabs, toggles, call to action buttons, audio, video and social sharing.

OperationCode depending on who is organizing

Annual hackathon or conference

This is the case the demo was designed for. You can keep a page of past editions and another of testimonials running all year, and save the countdown for the ticket sales season.

Developer community or meetup

If your activity is smaller gatherings, the person cards and the blog let you introduce each speaker and publish summaries of every session. The blog supports standard, gallery, image, link, quote, video and audio post formats, so it works for recordings or audio talks.

IT company that wants more than an event

With the demo's team, contact and blog pages, the structure can be adapted to a technology company website. You will need to replace the hackathon content with your own.

Seven headers, three footers and four ways to show the blog

The demo brings seven header styles and three footer styles, so you don't have to accept a single layout for every page. The blog can be displayed in classic, grid, masonry or justified layout, with a left sidebar, a right sidebar or none. For a recurring event this is practical: the news blog can go in a grid and a page of long talks can go without a sidebar. It also includes a 404 page and a typography page.

Common questions before building your event with OperationCode

Is it useful if my site is not about an event?

Yes, as long as you change the content. The demo includes team pages, blog, contact and map, but it is built around a hackathon.

Can I change the look of the header?

There are seven header styles and three footer styles to choose from.

Does it include a contact form and a map?

Yes, both appear among the demo's elements.

Can I publish video or audio on the blog?

Yes, the post formats include video and audio, as well as gallery, image, link and quote.

Does it sell tickets by itself?

No. See the next section.

The ticket table shows prices, but it doesn't charge

The select buttons in the pricing table are part of the demo's design. The theme does not include ticket sales, a payment gateway or capacity control. If you need to charge, plan how you will connect a ticketing system or an e-commerce plugin, and check in the demo how those buttons behave. It doesn't come with event content of its own either: the demo's speakers, schedule and testimonials are samples and you will have to write yours.
