Oshine Modules

An Oshine site is several plugins with a theme on top

Anyone who inherits or maintains a site built with Oshine tends to think of it as one product: the theme. But a look at the plugins shows several similar names, and when something has to be touched it is not clear which one does what. Knowing which piece holds what is the first thing you need to maintain a site like this.

Oshine Modules is the piece that contains the theme's shortcode modules: portfolios, galleries, sliders, tabs and the other blocks pages are composed from. Tatsu is the builder where you place them.

This plugin belongs to the ecosystem of the Oshine theme by Brand Exponents. If your site does not use Oshine, it is not for you: its modules are the ones that come with that theme.

The division of work on an Oshine site

• Tatsu: the drag and drop builder, needed to create pages.
• Oshine Modules: all the shortcode modules included with the theme.
• Oshine Core: demo import and other functions of the welcome screen.
• BE Portfolio Post: creates the portfolio items.
• Type Hub and Color Hub: control typography and colors across the site.

WooCommerce and Contact Form 7 are optional. The first is needed if the site has a shop.

Modules for portfolios, sliders and content

• Portfolio: portfolio module, carousel with column and slideshow speed controls, and Fancy Portfolio styles 1 and 2.
• Galleries: gallery and justified gallery, with responsive gutter width.
• Sliders: Image Slider, Flex Slider, BE Slider and dual carousel.
• Content and marketing: blog, recent posts, services, team, clients, tabs, Content Marquee, navigation and advance button.
• Forms: contact and newsletter.

Settings you can change inside each module

The fine detail is in each piece's options. In Image Slider you can show or hide the navigation dots and buttons, and turn on pause on hover and looping. In recent posts you can hide the thumbnail, social icons and tags. The navigation module accepts a custom URL, and the clients module lets you show or hide its navigation dots.

The plugin also brings the modules for the Oshine V60 and V61 demos.

If your site comes from BE Page Builder

The old BE Page Builder is now deprecated. Older sites move to Tatsu through a conversion, and Oshine Modules is part of that step. New buyers can skip it. First save a backup of the options panel, the files and the database. The process is this:

1. Update the theme to the version that uses Tatsu.
2. Install and activate BE To Tatsu Convertor, Oshine Modules and Tatsu.
3. Confirm that BE Page Builder is still active.
4. In Settings, open BE Page Builder to Tatsu Convertor and click Convert To Tatsu.
5. Deactivate BE Page Builder and the converter.
6. Clear the site, server and browser caches.

Installing it on a new site

You need the Oshine theme and Tatsu. On current versions of the theme, installation starts from the welcome screen:

1. Install and activate Oshine.
2. On the welcome screen, open the Install Plugins tab.
3. Install and activate the plugins, and do not reload the page while it works.
4. Activate WooCommerce before importing a demo with a shop.
5. Import the demo or create your first page in Tatsu and add a module.

If you start from scratch without Oshine, and three questions

For a new portfolio, a theme like Agencium is built around showing work. And if you only lack galleries, FooGallery brings filtering, search and video next to photos. The catalog also has general builders, such as Elementor Pro and WPBakery Page Builder.

Does it work with another theme?

Its modules are those included with Oshine, so it is meant for that theme.

Do I need Tatsu?

Yes, to create pages. Tatsu is the builder the theme requires.

Does it include the Oshine theme?

No. It is a companion plugin to the theme.
