About PMPRO Member Directory and Profile Pages
A paid community nobody can see from the inside
You charge a fee to belong to something, but members can't see each other: each one logs in, consumes the content and leaves without knowing who else is inside. Without a place to meet, the value of the membership depends only on what you publish. PMPRO Member Directory and Profile Pages turns the member list into a showcase: a directory where people can be searched and a profile page for each one.
This matters most for associations, professional bodies, business networks or local communities, where much of what a member gains comes from contacting other members, not from reading your articles.
Directory, profiles and map: what each piece of PMPRO Member Directory and Profile Pages does
The plugin is an add-on for Paid Memberships Pro and relies on three pieces:
- Directory page: dynamically lists members, with their avatar, essential profile data and a direct link to their individual page.
- Profile page: highlights a specific member. Its content is customized with no-code User Fields, so you can show the information your community cares about (specialty, company, city, whatever applies).
- Member map (optional): shows members on an interactive map. It helps encourage local contacts, regional groups or show the reach of the community.
Everything is placed with WordPress blocks or shortcodes, and you can decide what is shown based on membership level. You can also make the directory public or restrict it to members, and control the visibility of each profile.
What it needs and what it doesn't include
It doesn't work on its own: it requires Paid Memberships Pro to be installed. The Google API key is an optional setup step: if you want a map, plan for it. It is designed for sites where members can hold one or several active levels.
Questions people ask before setting it up
Can I make it visible only to members?
Yes. The directory can be public or members-only, and there are visibility and access rules you can adjust.
Can I show only some levels?
Yes. Blocks and shortcodes let you show members and profile data based on membership level.
Do I need the map?
No, it is an optional extra.
Does it have a search?
Yes, adding a search to the directory is one of the setup steps.
Can I choose the layout of the listing?
There are screenshots with a four-column layout and a table format, so you can aim for cards or a list.
Your community decides how much is shown
A directory of people raises a practical question: not every member will want to appear. Decide from the start which fields are visible and to whom. If you handle addresses or locations on the map, tell your members which data is published, because it is personal data.
The directory is built with two pages and a few settings
After activating the add-on, the logical order is this:
- Create and assign the directory and profile pages (you can do it by hand with shortcodes or with blocks).
- Add the Google Maps key only if you will use the map.
- Customize the directory and the profile.
- Set profile visibility and, if you want, the search.
Before you start, create the User Fields you want to show: a directory with only a name and avatar adds little. And test the result with several membership levels to check that each one sees what it should.
