About PMPRO Member Homepages Addon

Your homepage sells, but a member who already paid doesn't need to be sold to

On a membership site, the homepage often ends up as an awkward crossroads: if you design it to convince visitors, the member who logs in every week lands on a sales pitch for something they already bought. If you design it for members, a first-time visitor can't tell what you offer. And the person who pays and doesn't quickly find what they expected is the first to cancel.

PMPRO Member Homepages Addon splits the two journeys: when a logged-in member tries to open your homepage, it sends them to a page of their own level instead. Your homepage can then be an uncompromising sales page, and members get a dashboard built to take them to what they pay for in one click.

One homepage per level with PMPRO Member Homepages Addon

The setup lives in the edit screen of each Paid Memberships Pro level, in the Membership Homepage section of the additional settings. You pick a published page from a dropdown and decide two things:

  • Homepage redirect: when enabled, the member always ends up on their level's page when they try to open the homepage. When disabled, they are only redirected on login and can go back to the homepage by clicking the logo or any home link.
  • Override other redirects: if you enable it, the member always lands on their page on login, even if the login form carries a different destination address.

What to put on the dashboard depending on your type of site

The landing page is yours, and it decides whether the plugin is useful or just a detour. Some ideas by business type:

  • Courses: the courses the member is enrolled in, their certificates, or a link to send feedback to the instructor.
  • Blog and news: recent articles and latest comments.
  • Communities: recent forum topics, upcoming events and messages.
  • Associations: news, the member directory and a profile update form.
  • Paid newsletters: a topic preferences form.
  • Podcast and video: latest episodes or videos, and links to the platforms where you publish.
  • Directories: a direct link to manage their private listing.

The practical rule: put at the top whatever the member is paying for. Fewer clicks to the content means fewer questions for your team and fewer cancellations.

Permanent redirect or only on login?

This is the central decision. Keep it permanent if you want members never to see the sales homepage. Disable it if you'd rather let them return to it freely and only want a personalized welcome when they log in. Before deciding, keep these limits in mind:

  • It needs Paid Memberships Pro installed and active; it does not work on its own.
  • It doesn't build the dashboard: you have to design every page you assign.
  • Setups with several levels per user and custom content types are handled with filters, meaning code.

Can I use a custom content type as the homepage?

Yes, but through a developer filter that lets you set the ID of any content, including a custom post type. The dropdown only lists published pages.

What if a member holds several levels at once?

There is a filter to prioritize which level with its own page takes precedence. It is meant for sites with several levels per user and needs a bit of code.

Can I turn off the redirect without removing the plugin?

Yes, from the level settings. Members are then sent to their page only when they log in.
