About Polylang for WooCommerce
A customer buys in German and the confirmation email arrives in English
Translating the product page is the easy part of selling abroad. What makes a foreign customer leave or write in annoyed comes afterwards: a cart in another language, a half-translated checkout or an order email they cannot understand. There is also a less visible problem: if each language works as a separate product, the same stock can be sold twice.
Polylang for WooCommerce is the add-on that brings that shop layer to Polylang. You translate from the WooCommerce interface itself and it adds no extra tables to the database.

Your own store that wants to sell in other countries
You can translate simple, variable and grouped products, plus categories, tags and global attributes. The shop, cart, checkout and my account pages load their texts from the WooCommerce language packs, so you do not have to write them yourself as long as your language has a pack.
An agency running client stores
It includes a setup wizard. It is HPOS compatible. Notices for the administrator, such as a new sale, arrive in the language of their WordPress user if that language is in the Polylang language table.
A store with WooCommerce extensions
It is compatible with Bookings, Subscriptions, Product Bundle, Composite Products, Mix and Match and Dynamic Pricing. Some third-party plugins ship with their own support for it. If you use another extension, test it on a copy of the store before going live.
Stock, prices and cart that stay in sync across languages
This is the part that prevents selling the same item twice. Synchronization is automatic and needs no extra configuration:
- Stock shared across all translations of a product.
- Prices, SKUs, taxes and variations.
- Categories, tags, brands, attributes, shipping classes, up-sells and cross-sells.
- Featured image and galleries.
- Cart synchronized across languages.
Customer emails, such as the order confirmation, go out in the language used to place the purchase. The subject and heading can be customized from the translations table.
Translate by hand, duplicate or use DeepL
Manual translation covers products, categories, tags, posts and pages. With Polylang Pro you can duplicate a product with its content and start from there. With Polylang Pro and your own DeepL key, the product editor translates the title, description and short description. If categories and tags have no translation, they are generated when the product is translated.
For search ranking it includes hreflang tags and translation of the keyword and the meta description.
Questions before installing Polylang for WooCommerce
Do prices change by language? They are synchronized across the translations of a product, so you do not maintain them separately.
Does the customer get the email in their language? Yes, in the language they ordered in. If they buy in German, their emails arrive in German.
Can I translate everything with one click? No. Polylang Pro does not offer a translate-everything-at-once feature.
Does it work for stores with bookings or subscriptions? It is compatible with Bookings and Subscriptions.
It needs Polylang as a base, and DeepL does not reach Elementor
Polylang for WooCommerce is an add-on: it does not work on its own and requires Polylang or Polylang Pro. Machine translation with DeepL requires Polylang Pro and does not work with Elementor or some builders. If your store is built with one, you will have to translate those pages by hand.
