About PublishPress Revisions Pro
Fixing a page that already ranks without the change going out half-finished
In WordPress, editing published content means editing it live: as soon as someone clicks Update, readers see the result, even if the change was half-done or nobody had reviewed it. On a site with several authors, the risk is not in new articles, which go through draft, but in the already published pages that get the most traffic. Those are the ones that get tweaked most and hurt most when broken.
PublishPress Revisions Pro keeps the proposed change separate from the published version. The team works in the usual WordPress editor and submits the revision as pending. Readers keep seeing the current version until an editor approves it or the scheduled date arrives.
PublishPress Revisions Pro day to day: propose, compare, approve
- Who proposes changes: you can use the Revisor role or adjust the roles you already have, so someone can suggest updates to published content without being able to publish them themselves.
- Preview and compare: the reviewer sees the requested update next to the current version before deciding.
- Revision queue: a single place to find pending changes, review submissions and approve or reject them. It helps as your content grows.
- Scheduling: you prepare the changes to a published post and choose when they go out, useful for a launch or an announcement.
- Email alerts: sent when a revision is submitted, approved or published, so the reviewer acts and the author knows their change is live.
You can also create revisions of content that is not published yet.
Reviewing more than text: WooCommerce, ACF and page builders
This is what the Pro version adds. It supports tools such as WooCommerce, Yoast SEO and Advanced Custom Fields, so a change to a product page, to SEO data or to a custom field can go through the same filter as the text of an article.
It also integrates with Elementor, Beaver Builder and Divi, so updates made with those builders follow an approval process too. And with WPML you can manage pending and scheduled revisions on multilingual sites.
Multi-step approval needs Statuses Pro
Revisions Pro covers a simple circuit: someone proposes and someone with permission approves. Anything beyond that is solved with other pieces or with your own organization:
- Already solved: pending revisions, comparison, moderation queue, scheduling, email alerts and the Revisor role.
- With Statuses Pro: a multi-step approval process.
- With Permissions Pro: more detailed permissions on who can submit revisions.
- With Planner: more customized notifications.
- On your own: deciding who reviews what and within what deadline. The plugin provides the tools, not the editorial judgment.
