About PublishPress Series Pro

When a series of posts gets lost among the rest of the blog

You publish a five-part tutorial or a story in installments, and two weeks later nobody knows which part comes first. Manual links between parts break, get forgotten or need fixing every time you slot in a new chapter. PublishPress Series Pro solves exactly that: it groups related posts into a series and organizes the reading journey.

A real walkthrough: from the first installment to the complete issue

Picture a digital magazine with monthly issues or a course with several lessons. This is how you work with the plugin, step by step:

  • While you write: you assign the post to an existing series or create a new one from the editing screen itself. There is no need to go to another screen.
  • When a piece is missing: you can insert a new installment where it belongs and the reading order stays organized, without redoing links.
  • When preparing the launch: from the Publish Series screen you reorder, schedule, publish or unpublish the posts in the series together, without opening each one separately.
  • Once published: the series information appears automatically on each post, and you can customize how it is displayed so readers find the next installment.

Names, descriptions and images in one place

Each series has its own name, description and image, and they are all managed from a single place. In the posts list in your dashboard you can filter by series, which is very useful when you have been publishing for months and want to know which posts are already in a collection and which were left loose.

What the Pro version of PublishPress Series adds

The free version covers the basics: grouping and ordering posts. Series Pro extends the reach on three fronts:

  • Custom post types: you can put lessons, resources or other content types into a series, not just blog posts.
  • Several series per post: the same content can belong to more than one series. Useful if an article serves both a beginner course and an advanced one.
  • Shortcodes: you insert series information into posts and pages, giving readers another way into your collections.

It also removes PublishPress ads and branding from the dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

Is it useful for more than blogs?

Yes, as long as your content has an order: lessons, course resources, magazine issues or stories in chapters. With custom post type support you are not limited to posts.

Can a post be in two series at once?

With Series Pro, yes. It is one of its differences from the basic version.

Do I have to link the parts by hand?

No. The series information is shown automatically on each post and you can adjust its appearance.

Is it an editorial calendar plugin?

No. It focuses on organizing content into series and managing their publication together. If you want a planning calendar, that is a different kind of tool.

What to know before building your series

The plugin organizes and displays, but it does not write the structure for you: decide beforehand what goes into each series and in what order. Check in the demo that the way the series is displayed fits your theme, because that is what the reader will see in every installment.
