About SecondLine – Gumbo WordPress Theme

Your audience listens in an app, but your website decides whether someone stays

Many podcasts end up with a website that is an improvised blog: buried episodes, a player that fails on mobile and no hint of who is behind the microphone. On top of that, most of your listeners will never visit it, because they listen from their app. A different kind of person lands on your site: someone searching Google for a specific episode, or someone who wants to meet the hosts before subscribing. Gumbo is a theme designed for that visitor.

It was built for podcasts, although it also fits a vlog or a portfolio.

Episodes from any source and layouts that hold up a long archive

Gumbo supports MP3 files hosted on your site or externally, and embeds from Libsyn, SoundCloud, MixCloud, YouTube, Vimeo and others. It works with podcasting plugins such as PowerPress and Seriously Simple Podcasting, and can generate RSS feeds to publish the show on iTunes and the major platforms. The player is customizable, works in all browsers and on mobile, can be placed wherever you want and can include a download button or play in a new window.

For your archive, you choose how it is displayed:

  • A one-column list or a grid of 2 to 6 columns
  • Masonry layout
  • Filtering by podcast category
  • Classic pagination, a load more button or infinite scroll
  • A single episode view shown in context

It also includes a featured slider to put the episode you care about most up front.

Colors, fonts and Elementor so the website sounds like your show

You can change the whole color scheme and choose from more than 900 Google Fonts from the WordPress Customizer, so the site can follow your brand. For custom pages, Gumbo relies on Elementor and includes its own elements for that builder, plus demo templates that import with one click.

There is a ready-made page for the show hosts, with a photo, a bio and social network links. The theme is ready to be translated with your favorite translation plugin, supports RTL orientation and is compatible with WooCommerce.

Is Gumbo the right theme for your podcast?

It fits if you want a podcast website with its own look and no coding. Think twice if you expect the theme to act as an audio hosting service: that is handled by your hosting or an external platform, and Gumbo takes care of displaying and organizing the episodes. Decide beforehand whether you will use PowerPress, Seriously Simple Podcasting or another compatible plugin, and check in the demo how the type of episode you publish looks.

Do I need Elementor Pro?

Not necessarily. You can build with the free version of Elementor; the Pro version exists, but it is not essential.

Can I use SoundCloud or YouTube audio instead of uploading MP3 files?

Yes. It supports local or external MP3 files and embeds from services such as Libsyn, SoundCloud, MixCloud, YouTube and Vimeo.

Is it useful for anything other than a podcast?

Yes, it also fits a vlog or a portfolio, but its strength lies in the podcasting features.

Does it work well on mobile?

It is fully responsive and the player is compatible with browsers and mobile devices. Even so, check the demo from your phone.
