About SecondLine – Satchmo WordPress Theme
Satchmo puts your podcast on a site you own
People who publish a podcast often know their listeners only as a number in an app: they listen on Spotify or iTunes, see a small cover image and never visit your website. Yet the full catalog, your own player and the link you share on social media live on the only site that does not depend on someone else's platform. Satchmo is a SecondLine theme designed for that site. It is aimed at podcasters, although it also works for a blog, a vlog or a portfolio.
Your own player or embeds from the platform you already use
You can upload or link MP3 files and use the player that comes with the theme, or embed the episode from SoundCloud, Spreaker, Spotify, MixCloud, YouTube and similar services. This is useful if your audio is already hosted on a platform and you do not want to move it. The theme also supports video, so an episode recorded on camera can sit alongside audio-only ones.
To promote each episode, social media icons go in the header or footer, and you can add share buttons inside the posts themselves.
Design with Elementor without touching code
Satchmo works with the Elementor page builder and includes its own elements for it, plus demo templates you can import. The Pro version of Elementor is not essential. With it you build pages and see the changes instantly.
- Customization from the WordPress Customizer, with control over colors and fonts (more than 900 Google Fonts).
- An alternative homepage version with an episode slider.
- A layout that adapts to mobile and large screens, with support for RTL orientation.
- Ready to translate with the translation plugin of your choice.
- WooCommerce support, in case you want to sell something alongside the podcast.
The podcast feed comes from a separate plugin
A theme decides how your site looks, not how your audio reaches the directories. For your episodes to appear in podcast apps you need a compatible podcasting plugin. Satchmo works with PowerPress, Seriously Simple Podcasting and Simple Podcast Press. Here is how the work is split:
- Already handled by the theme: episode display, player, embeds, share buttons, colors, typography and templates.
- Covered with a podcasting plugin: publishing your episodes to the podcast directories.
- Covered by you: recording and editing the audio, and uploading or linking each MP3 (or choosing the platform you embed from).
- Covered by you: writing each episode's notes, the page copy and the promotion strategy.
If you want a general content site without audio, another theme will give you less than none at all.
Frequently asked questions about Satchmo
Do I need Elementor Pro?
It is not essential. The theme relies on Elementor and brings its own elements, and you can build your pages without moving to the paid version.
Is it compatible with PowerPress or Seriously Simple Podcasting?
Yes, both are among the compatible podcasting plugins, along with Simple Podcast Press. Install the one you prefer to manage your episodes.
Can I use it if my audio is on Spotify or SoundCloud?
Yes. You can embed the episode from those platforms, from Spreaker, MixCloud or YouTube, or use the theme's player with your MP3 files.
Is it useful for anything besides a podcast?
Yes. It is designed for podcasts, but it also fits a blog, a vlog or a portfolio.
