About Site Reviews: Review Authors

The bad review you already fixed is still there, and you can't touch it

A customer complains about a delay, you sort it out that same week, and their one-star review is still at the top of the page. Removing or correcting it usually ends in an email to the administrator, a dashboard login nobody wants to hand out, or a review nobody ever touches again. Site Reviews: Review Authors moves that management to the frontend: the author edits or deletes what they wrote, and you reply publicly without opening the admin panel.

It is an add-on for Site Reviews, not a standalone review system. Without that plugin, it does nothing.

Edit, delete and reply right from the reviews page

When someone has permission over a review, it shows "Edit" and "Delete" links. They appear for the review's author and also for any user whose role is allowed to edit it. This is what changes day to day:

  • Editing in a modal: the form opens in a pop-up window, with no jump to another page, and the review updates on screen instantly.
  • Deletion with confirmation: after editing or deleting, a confirmation text appears, so nobody is left wondering whether it was saved.
  • Consistent fields: the edit form hides the fields that were already hidden in the original form, so the author sees nothing they didn't see when writing.
  • Replies from the frontend: you can respond to a review without entering the WordPress dashboard.

Replying publicly matters more than it seems: people who read reviews before buying look at how the business treats someone who complains, sometimes more than at the rating.

You decide which roles can edit and delete

In the settings you choose which user roles can edit and delete reviews from the frontend. This is useful if, for example, you want authors to correct their own reviews but only your customer service team to be able to touch other people's.

It also includes Breakdance integration and is compatible with the Site Reviews plugin for images in reviews, which is worth knowing if you already show photos in your reviews.

Decide whether you need Review Authors before setting anything up

It is worth it if you already use Site Reviews and your customers ask to correct or withdraw their opinions, or if you want to reply without going through the dashboard. It won't help if you haven't chosen a review plugin yet or if you prefer to moderate everything yourself from the admin.

Does it work without Site Reviews?

No. It is an add-on and depends on that plugin, and it also requires recent versions of PHP and WordPress. Check your hosting before counting on it.

Can a visitor without an account edit their review?

The links are shown to the review's author or to roles with permission. If you receive reviews from unregistered visitors, check in the demo whether they see those options.

Can I stop customers from deleting reviews?

Yes: permissions are limited by role in the settings, so you decide who can edit and who can delete.

Does it change how my reviews look?

It adds the edit and delete links and the form modals. Check in the demo how they fit with your theme's design.

Does it help moderate fake reviews?

It is not a moderation tool or a fake-review detector: it gives control to the author and to the roles you choose, nothing more.
