About Sol WordPress Theme
A creative agency often has the most neglected website in its whole portfolio: clients take up the time, the portfolio is stuck on projects from two years ago, and the home page doesn't show what the studio can do today. Sol is built for that case: a home page with weight, a portfolio with effects, and little else to configure.
From an empty home page to a presentable studio with Sol
Imagine you are building the website of a small studio. The path with this theme would look like this:
- Step one, the front page. You choose between four different home page layouts. That way not every studio using Sol has the same look, and you decide whether to show the work or the services first.
- Step two, the services. The front page includes a featured services section. It is the place to explain what you do in a few lines, before the visitor gets lost.
- Step three, what goes below. Under the services you can show the team, the blog, the portfolio or a static page. Pick just one according to what helps you sell most: a studio with little blog material does better showing its people or its work.
- Step four, the logo and the brand. You upload your logo as an image from the theme itself. Social media icons come built in (11 are available), so you don't need a separate plugin for that.
The portfolio with effects and the team page
Sol includes a page template for the portfolio, with CSS3 effects when showing projects, and another for the team. There is also a full width template, useful for a long case study that needs room to breathe without sidebars.
A practical warning: the effects shine when the images are good and consistent in size. If your project screenshots are uneven, the portfolio will show it more than in a sober design.
Forms, widgets and comments: what you get and what you don't
Sol styles the Contact Form 7 plugin, but you have to install the form yourself: the theme doesn't include its own. There are also three widget-ready areas and threaded comments on blog posts.
What you won't find described is a built-in visual builder, a shop or a booking system. It is a presentation theme: it serves to showcase the studio, not to sell online.
Questions before choosing Sol
Does it work well on mobile?
Yes, the design is responsive and adapts to different devices. Even so, check in the demo how the portfolio effects behave on a small screen.
Is it only for creative agencies?
It is made with them in mind.
Can I change the colors and elements?
It includes elements with their own CSS styling and the original .png files. For deep design changes you will have to work with CSS.
Does it work in all browsers?
It is compatible with the major browsers.
