About Superb Social Share and Follow Buttons
Adding social buttons to a website often ends up as a row of icons pasted at the bottom of the article, mixing "share this" with "follow us" so that nobody clicks either. Superb Social Share and Follow Buttons is a plugin for placing both kinds of buttons wherever you want, without touching code.
Sharing and following are two different requests
Someone who shares an article lends you their audience once. Someone who follows you gives you permission to speak to them again. Asking for both with the same icon, in the same place and with the same text weakens each one. That is why the plugin treats share buttons and follow buttons as two groups that you can show together, separately, or just one of them, depending on what each page needs.
Where each button can appear in Superb Social Share and Follow Buttons
- Floating sidebar with share icons, follow icons or both. You can combine them in one bar or split them into two, and position it as you like.
- At the start and end of posts and pages, with share, follow or both.
- Widget, block or shortcode, to place them in a footer, a sidebar or any point on a page.
- Icon-by-icon control: reorder them and hide or show each one individually.
- Appearance: four designs, button size, text color and floating sidebar background color. You can edit or remove the share and follow text and show icons only.
It is responsive and designed to be lightweight, with SEO-friendly code. For sharing it covers networks such as X (Twitter), Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Reddit, WhatsApp, Telegram, Mastodon and Bluesky, among others. For following the list is much longer and includes platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, Spotify, Patreon, Ko-fi, Discord, Etsy or Yelp.
Three websites, three ways to set it up
Blog or magazine with long articles
What matters is that readers share when they finish reading. Put the share icons at the end of the post and keep the follow icons in a discreet bar, so they don't compete with the text.
Local business or professional with open profiles
Here sharing matters less than sending people to your profiles. Show only follow icons for the two or three networks you actually look after (the plugin lets you hide the rest) and resist the temptation to show them all.
Creator present on several platforms
If you spread your content across video, music, live streams and platforms for financial support, the list of follow networks helps you gather them in one place through a shortcode, on a links page or in the site footer.
Common questions before installing it
Do I need to know how to code? No. It is inserted through a block, widget or shortcode.
Can I show only the icons, without text? Yes, there is an option for that, and you can also edit or remove the share and follow text.
Can the share bar be separated from the follow bar? Yes, they can be combined in one floating bar or placed in separate bars.
Will it slow the site down? It is designed as a lightweight plugin. Even so, the more icons and locations you enable, the more elements each page will load: choose only the ones you will use.
With uncommon plugins, test before publishing
It works with the most popular plugins, but no developer can test them all. If your site uses a niche builder or plugin, check the floating bar on mobile and on desktop before putting it into production. Also, the plugin only places share and follow buttons: it does not manage your social accounts or post for you, and some customization options belong to the Premium version.
