About SupportCandy Slack integration

For teams that already live in Slack, not for anyone looking for a ticketing system

A ticket nobody sees in time is a customer waiting without knowing why. In small teams the problem is rarely solving: it's finding out. The WordPress support panel sits in a tab that gets opened when there's a spare moment, while the team's real conversation happens in Slack. Whoever is slow to check the panel is slow to answer.

SupportCandy Slack integration brings that alert to the place where the team already is. It fits you if:

  • you handle your tickets with SupportCandy and your team uses Slack every day;
  • several people share the replies and want to see them in a common channel.

It is not for you if you don't use SupportCandy: it is an add-on for that plugin and does not work on its own. Nor is it for you if your team doesn't work with Slack.

An alert in the channel when a customer opens a ticket or replies

As soon as a customer submits a ticket or replies to an existing one, the notification arrives in the Slack channel you have connected. That way nobody has to remember whether something is pending: the alert shows up where the team is already looking.

Each notification has the ticket address embedded. One click takes you to the ticket in your support portal, which is useful when the reply needs the full history or involves something that can't be solved in a single sentence.

Reply in the Slack thread and have the answer go out under the right agent

Your team can answer the customer by writing directly in the Slack thread, without opening the panel. For a quick question, it saves switching screens.

What matters is how that reply is signed. You can associate Slack users with your SupportCandy agents, so each reply is posted under the agent it belongs to. If no match is found, a fallback agent is used to post it.

Practical tip: before putting the channel into use, match everyone who will be replying. If someone is left unassociated, their reply will go out under the fallback agent instead of their name, and in a team where the customer always deals with the same people, that shows.

Incoming Slack calls checked before they are accepted

Since replies from Slack reach your WordPress through webhooks, the plugin applies Slack's API verification process to every incoming call. The aim is to confirm that the call comes from Slack and not from a third party trying to sneak into your tickets.

Common questions before connecting SupportCandy with Slack

Does it work without SupportCandy?

No. It is an extension designed for SupportCandy: you need that plugin installed and your tickets managed with it.

What alerts reach the channel?

Those for a new ticket and those for a customer reply to an existing ticket.

Do I have to match every team member with an agent?

It isn't mandatory, but it's advisable. Anyone without a match will reply through the fallback agent.

Can I get to the full ticket from Slack?

Yes. Each notification includes the ticket address in your support portal.
