About Tasty Recipes

The person opening your recipe is cooking, not reading

Your reader has floury hands, a phone propped on the counter and a screen that goes dark right at step three. On the other side, Google is trying to decide whether what you published is a recipe or a long text with food photos. A food blog works when it solves both at once, and both go through the recipe card. That is where Tasty Recipes starts.

The card picks up your theme's fonts and colors, so it fits in from the first post. If you want, you can adjust colors and layout, and you can choose from 11 card templates.

Cards that readers find easy to use and that Google understands

These are the features that matter day to day:

  • Recipe schema in JSON-LD on every card, without touching code. It tells search engines about ingredients, times and ratings, and it also serves Pinterest Rich Pins.
  • Cook Mode, which keeps the screen from going dark while cooking, and ingredient checkboxes so readers don't lose their place.
  • Save Recipe: readers email the recipe to themselves and join your list right from the card.
  • Recipe scaling and unit conversion.
  • How-to cards for content with steps that isn't food, such as a candle-making tutorial or a DIY project.

It helps to know what it doesn't do. Cook Mode, scaling, checkboxes, unit conversion, Save Recipe, the Instacart integration and how-to cards belong to the full edition; the basic one is limited to three templates, schema, printing, a jump-to-recipe link, video and star ratings. Also, schema only prepares the recipe to show up well: it doesn't guarantee rankings, because other factors weigh in. And Tasty Pins, Tasty Links and Tasty Roundups are separate products, not included in this plugin. It works with the Block Editor, the Classic Editor and Elementor.

Finding one recipe among 300+ posts

When the blog grows, locating a recipe to fix a quantity or add a photo becomes a waste of time. Tasty Recipes gathers all the cards in a dashboard with search and filters, where you find, edit and update them without opening post after post. It also loads its scripts only on posts that have a card, so the rest of the site isn't affected.

Questions from people coming from another recipe plugin

What happens to my current recipes?

They are converted in bulk with the built-in converter. Posts, URLs and photos stay where they are; only the card changes.

Which plugins can I migrate from?

There is an import from WP Recipe Maker and Mediavine Create, and 11 other recipe plugins are supported. If you use a less common one, check the list before deciding.

Does it work for non-food content?

Yes, with the full edition's how-to cards: the same clean, printable layout, for anything with steps.

Will it slow down my site?

It is built to stay light and only loads its scripts where there is a recipe card.

Convert a few recipes before launching the full batch

If you're coming from another plugin, migration is the delicate part. First make a backup of the site, convert a few recipes and check that ingredients, times and photos came through well. Once everything checks out, convert the rest in bulk.

Then look at the card on mobile with your colors and your theme, and check in the demo how the template you prefer looks before changing the whole archive.
