About Themify Music Theme
The sticky player has three possible sources, and you must pick one
Your music is already on Spotify or SoundCloud, and it seems logical to paste those players into the site and call it done. That works for hearing a track on that page. What it does not give you is music playing while the visitor moves from the tour dates to the photos, which is the reason to choose a theme with a sticky player.
In Themify Music, the footer player has three modes: Album uses the tracks uploaded in Sound Tracks, Custom Songs takes up to seven songs by URL and Custom Code accepts code such as a SoundCloud embed. An album set to Custom Embeds does not feed Album mode. So before laying out anything there is a business decision: where the music that plays during browsing comes from.
In Album mode, the player takes a single album, the one you select in the settings. You can create one with a selection of your songs, separate from the records you show on the site; try it first with two or three tracks. Uploaded files take up space on your hosting, and the theme dropped autoplay, so it plays when the visitor presses.
Albums, dates, videos and press in their own panel
- Albums: artists, year, genre, buy link, uploaded tracks and embeds.
- Events: start and end, location, map address, ticket link and video.
- Galleries: with a shortcode or from the media panel.
- Videos: embedded or hosted on your site.
- Press: featured image, links and its own content.
Each type displays with a query tab on the page or with a shortcode such as [themify_album_posts]. AJAX navigation comes on, and it is what allows moving between pages with no reload.
The gig calendar has two details
An event moves to past events on its own when its end date and time arrive. That keeps the list of upcoming dates clean and leaves you a concert history.
The first detail is the order. Events display their date, but the query sorts them by the post's publish date. If you load a tour out of order, it will come out of order, so publish following the calendar or adjust that date.
The second is sales. Tickets are sold with an external service such as Ticketmaster or Eventbrite, linked from the event, or with Easy Digital Downloads and its Event Tickets extension.
Headers, languages and what stays out
It comes with Themify Builder integrated, so you need no other builder for layouts. There are nine header designs for the whole site or per page, and ten for albums. It translates with WPML or Polylang and adapts to right-to-left writing based on the site language.
To sell music, an album carries a buy link to wherever you sell; the demo includes no shop. And background video in Builder rows needs an .mp4 file and does not play on mobile, so it needs a fallback image.
Your first song playing in the site footer
You need your own WordPress installation. These are the steps:
- Upload the theme from Appearance, Themes, Add New, and activate it.
- In Themify, Settings, Demo Import, import the demo. Featured images arrive as placeholders you will need to replace.
- Create an album and upload your tracks in Sound Tracks.
- In Themify, Settings, Theme Settings, choose that album under Audio Player.
- Load your events in calendar order.
- Browse the site with a track playing and confirm it does not cut off, on mobile too.
Kentha, Bepop or just a player
If you live off gigs, Kentha adds a booking form and unlimited buy links per album. If you prefer the WordPress editor, Bepop is made with blocks, although it includes no demo content. And if your site is already built and you only want audio, AudioIgniter Pro places a player with playlists wherever you need it, with a sticky footer format.
Musicians' questions about Themify Music
Can I use Spotify or SoundCloud?
Yes, as embeds inside an album. In the footer player, Custom Code mode accepts a SoundCloud embed; check that it keeps playing when changing pages.
Does the music keep playing when changing pages?
Yes, with AJAX navigation, which comes on.
Why do my concerts come out of order?
Because the query uses each post's publish date, not the event date.
Does it sell tickets?
Not by itself. You link an external service or use Easy Digital Downloads with Event Tickets.
Do I need Elementor?
No. The Builder comes integrated in the theme.
