About Thrive Apprentice
Building an online course in WordPress often ends in a maze of screens: one for the course, another for modules, another for lessons, and a result that looks like everyone else's. Thrive Apprentice aims to avoid that with a course builder that works inside your own site.
From course outline to first published lesson
Imagine you teach photography and your material is scattered across videos, PDFs and notes. Here is how the process would go with Thrive Apprentice:
- You structure the course: you create modules, chapters and lessons and reorder them by dragging and dropping until you find the learning order you want.
- You choose the format of each lesson: text, video or audio, or a mix of them, with a visual editor to compose the content.
- You attach resources: you add links, PDFs and other files to a lesson in one click, and a resource area with its own design is generated automatically for the student.
- You publish in parts: you work in private and decide when to go live. You can publish a whole module or only some lessons, so you can start selling when only part of the course is ready.
That last point is useful if perfectionism is your problem: the course doesn't have to be finished for the first student to get in.
A school homepage that doesn't look like a WordPress listing
Before seeing a single lesson, students judge your course by what they see. That's why the course overview page, or your school homepage, is edited with the Thrive Visual Editor and accepts any element or call to action.
- The course list can be shown as a grid, masonry or list.
- The course list element has filters to show or hide courses, and you can place several lists on one page, for example split by difficulty or category.
- You can give each course its own header.
Lesson, module and course templates that adapt to your brand
There are ready-made templates for lessons, modules and the course page. They support a sidebar or none, fixed or collapsible, left or right, full-screen video or split layout, with or without a featured image. Elements such as the author image and description or the previous and next lesson buttons can be added or removed as you wish.
Colors work with a smart palette: you pick your brand color and a full palette is applied across the school design. A setup wizard guides you through choosing the base templates and it is compatible with any WordPress theme.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work if I already use another theme?
Yes, the setup wizard is designed to work with any WordPress theme.
Do I need everything recorded before I can sell?
No. You can publish only some of the modules or lessons and finish the rest later.
Is it video only?
No: it supports text, video and audio lessons, or combinations of them.
Can it replace my membership software?
Some users use it for that. Before migrating, check in the demo that it covers the access control and payments you need.
What to check before you decide
It is a course plugin with a strong focus on design and marketing. The visual editor drives the design, so if you prefer another page builder for the whole site, you will have two editing environments living together. Check in the demo how it fits the way you work.
