About Tickera Mailchimp

An event ends, the venue empties and the list of people who bought tickets stays in the orders panel, unused. When the next event comes around, promotion starts from scratch, with manual exports or paid ads to reach people who already knew you.

Someone who already bought a ticket is your best audience for the next event

Running events has a trap: every edition feels like a new business, with its own poster, date and campaign. But someone who has already paid once is the cheapest audience to convince. Tickera Mailchimp is an add-on for the Tickera plugin that sends every buyer to your Mailchimp audience as soon as payment is confirmed, with no spreadsheet exports and no importing later.

What Tickera Mailchimp does with every paid order

  • Automatic subscription: when payment is confirmed, the buyer's email goes into the audience you have chosen.
  • Audience choice: you connect your Mailchimp account and pick the destination list from a dropdown. Optionally you can tag buyers by ticket type or event, which is useful for segmenting later.
  • Automations: the subscription can trigger any automation you have already built in Mailchimp: a welcome series, a post-event message or a nudge to come back for the next one. You write the copy and design in Mailchimp; the add-on only gives the starting signal.
  • Setup with one API key: you generate the key in Mailchimp (under Account, Extras), paste it into the Tickera settings and choose the list.

Which data is sent and which is not

Email, first name and last name are synced. Payment data, addresses and ticket details are not sent: they stay in your WordPress database.

One audience per installation

In standard mode the add-on sends to a single audience per Tickera installation. If you run several events and want to keep them apart, the option is to use tags or groups inside that same audience and segment from Mailchimp. It also needs the Tickera plugin and a Mailchimp account: it does not work on its own. And the cost of your audience is set by Mailchimp according to your number of subscribers.

Questions from people who sell tickets with Mailchimp

Does the buyer receive a confirmation email?

It depends on how your audience is configured. With double opt-in, Mailchimp sends its standard message; with single opt-in, the buyer is added silently. The add-on does not change that setting.

What about consent and GDPR?

There are two routes: rely on the event terms checkbox at checkout (valid in many jurisdictions, but check yours) or add an explicit checkbox to receive future announcements using Tickera's Custom Forms add-on and subscribe only those who tick it. Mailchimp's double opt-in adds another layer. It is worth validating this with your advisor.

Does it work with Bridge for WooCommerce?

Yes: orders processed through Bridge trigger the subscription in the same way. If you also use Mailchimp's native plugin for WooCommerce, the two can coexist.

Is there a fee per subscriber?

The add-on applies no per-subscriber fee. Mailchimp applies its own rates based on the size of your audience.

What to decide before connecting the list

Before the first buyer comes in, decide whether you will subscribe everyone or only those who give explicit permission, and how you will tag: by event, by ticket type or both. Rebuilding a mixed list is more work than thinking it through first.

The API key is all there is to configure

Setup comes down to pasting the Mailchimp API key into the Tickera settings, choosing the audience in the dropdown and, if you want, enabling tags. Then make a test purchase and check in Mailchimp that the contact arrives with first name, last name and the expected tag, and that your automation fires.
