About Uncanny Learndash Enrollment Codes
An order of codes does not say who enrolls
A company buys twenty seats for its team. One person paid, but twenty will enter, each with a different email and on a different day. If your store only knows who paid, you do not know who the student is.
When you sell codes, the order identifies the buyer and only the redemption identifies the student, so you need a redemption record in addition to the sales one.
Uncanny Codes, also called Uncanny Redemption Codes, generates codes to enroll people in LearnDash courses and groups. Each code is redeemed from a form, and the add-on keeps who redeemed it, when, and which codes are still available.
What each code can do
- Batches: generated with their own prefix, suffix, length and format.
- Import: you can bring in codes you already have from a file.
- Use and expiry: each code accepts an expiration date and a number of redemptions allowed. There are single-use and multi-use codes.
- Editing: a code can be edited or canceled. You can change the date of a specific code and replace, cancel or delete it.
- Forms: there is a field type for WPForms, Formidable Forms, Gravity Forms, Fluent Forms, Forminator and Theme My Login.
- Built-in forms: it includes a registration form and a redemption form for logged-in users.
- WooCommerce: the code can be required to buy specific products, and batches of codes can be sold with CSV delivery. If the order is refunded, the codes from that purchase are canceled.
- Enrollment: native enrollment in LearnDash courses and groups checks whether the person was already enrolled or already in the group.
- Custom actions: with Uncanny Automator, redemption can trigger actions in other plugins.
Twenty seats for a team
Suppose you sell a course to companies. In the add-on you create a batch of twenty single-use codes, with a deadline, and tie them to the course. The buyer receives the list, hands it out to the team and each person redeems it on the form you placed on your site.
When the deadline passes you review the record: which codes were redeemed, when and by whom. Those not used still show as available. It is one way of using it; change it to suit your course.
What depends on other plugins
Native enrollment needs LearnDash. Selling codes and redeeming at checkout need WooCommerce. For redemption from a form you need one of the compatible form plugins, or you can use the forms the add-on includes. And for a code to give something in a plugin other than LearnDash, the bridge is Uncanny Automator.
Among its functions there is no per-company seat counter: codes and their redemptions are managed one by one or by batch. The limits are set by you when creating each batch.
Create and hand out the first batch
- Install and activate LearnDash and the add-on.
- Create a batch of codes, with its prefix, length, expiration date and number of redemptions, or import your own.
- Choose what the redeemer gets: a course, a group or an action through Automator.
- Place a redemption or registration form on the site, the add-on's own or a field in your form plugin.
- If you will sell codes, set up the product in WooCommerce and review how they are delivered.
LearnDash tools to compare
To extend LearnDash without codes you can look at Uncanny Toolkit Pro for LearnDash and Uncanny Automator Pro, both from the same vendor. If you want to sell courses without codes, there is LearnDash WooCommerce Integration.
