About User Registration Social Connect

Every field in the sign-up form costs you registrations

Someone who arrives at your membership site ready to join runs into a form: name, email, password, confirm password. Each step is an excuse to close the tab, and the person who leaves never gets to see what you offer. User Registration Social Connect tackles exactly that point: it lets visitors sign up and log in with a social account they already have open.

It is an add-on for User Registration & Membership, WPEverest's plugin for registration forms, memberships and content restriction. On its own it does nothing: it adds social access to a site that already runs on that plugin.

What happens when someone signs in with their social profile

The add-on retrieves the basic profile details to create the account, so users don't have to type them in. For the visitor it is one click; for you, a new member who hasn't filled in anything.

  • Platforms of your choice: you can enable or disable each one. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google and LinkedIn are available.
  • Automatic sign-up: if someone signing in with a social account is not yet a member, they are registered as a new member right then.
  • Auto-registration switch: you can enable or disable it depending on whether you want anyone to be able to create an account.

Which social network to offer depending on who you sell to

Don't offer all five out of habit. Every extra button is one more option the visitor has to think about, and anyone who can't find their usual network wonders whether it is worth creating yet another password. Think about where your audience lives:

  • A professional community or company training fits LinkedIn.
  • A general audience or consumer content usually has Facebook or Google at hand.
  • If your audience is visual or creative, Instagram may make sense.

Since each platform is enabled separately, you can start with two or three and add more once you see which ones people use. And remember: logging in without a password of their own means access depends on the member keeping their social account. If they lose it, they will have to recover access that way.

Install it only if you already work with User Registration & Membership

The decision is simple: if your membership site already uses User Registration & Membership and the sign-up form is holding people back, this add-on makes sense. If you use another membership plugin, it is not a replacement you can plug into just anything. And if all you want is a standalone login button, you are buying an add-on designed for one specific ecosystem.

With auto-registration on, signing in with a social network turns the person into a member. If your model is paid, think carefully about what gives access to what before leaving the door open: content restriction is configured in the main plugin, not in this add-on.

Can I offer only some networks?

Yes. Each platform is enabled or disabled independently.

Is the account created without the user doing anything else?

If auto-registration is enabled, yes: someone who signs in with a social account and is not a member is added automatically. If you disable it, they are not registered automatically.

Does it work for a blog without memberships?

It is designed as part of User Registration & Membership, so you need that plugin as a base.

What data is taken from the profile?

The basic profile details, to create the account with fewer steps. Check in the demo which fields arrive from each network before designing your form.
