About WaveRide – Surfing and Water Sports Theme

A surf school lives by the surf report: waves today, none tomorrow, and customers keep asking what time the lesson is, whether there are spots left and whether they can rent a board. If all of that is answered over WhatsApp, you lose hours repeating yourself. WaveRide is a theme built so those answers are already on your website.

From visit to booking: a walk through WaveRide

Picture a tourist looking for surf lessons for Saturday. Here is how the theme guides them:

  • They land on the home page: they find sections with background video, parallax and a slider (Slider Revolution is included) to show the spot and the atmosphere.
  • They see what you offer: the shortcodes for team, banners, testimonials and top reviews let you present your instructors and what other students say.
  • They check the schedule: the included Timetable plugin shows lessons and events in timetables, with shortcodes for event hours, event info and event lists.
  • They book: the Booked plugin, also included, handles appointments and bookings from your own pages. The theme also mentions booking functionality for tours.

Mind the limit: the timetable and the booking are two separate plugins. Timetable displays what is on offer; Booked takes the appointment. You will have to set them up and make them work together yourself, and it is wise to test with your own lessons before going live.

Pages and building blocks to put the site together without coding

WaveRide includes WPBakery Page Builder, so you build pages with visual blocks and do not need to touch code. It comes with a large collection of pages and layouts and one-click demo content import, handy for starting from a ready-made structure and swapping in your own texts and photos.

The practical shortcodes include a countdown (useful for opening the season or a competition), calls to action, a customizable Google Map, a video button, an image carousel and an anchor menu to jump between sections of the same page.

Headers, menus and navigation details

There are three header types (minimal, standard and divided), fixed or sticky behavior, separate logos for normal, sticky and mobile versions, and logo versions for light or dark headers. It also includes a mega menu, a fullscreen menu and a side area. The footer supports one to four columns. There are smooth page transitions and a preloader with more than 15 icons to choose from.

If you also sell: shop, blog and languages

The theme is compatible with WooCommerce, with a dropdown cart widget, so it works for a small shop selling boards, wetsuits or merchandise. It is compatible with Contact Form 7 for forms and with WPML if you need the site in several languages (very common in tourist areas). The blog offers a standard or masonry layout, varied post formats and related posts.

What it does not bring: the demo photos cannot be used on your site without your own license, so you need your own images or a stock photo library. The Instagram and Twitter feed plugins are no longer included because of API changes on those networks; if you want to show those networks, check in the demo which alternative works for you.

Frequently asked questions about WaveRide

Is it only for surfing?

No. It is focused on surfing and water sports such as kitesurf, windsurf or wakesurf, and its tags also point to sailing, diving, snorkeling, canoeing and boat rental. The timetable and booking structure works for any activity with lessons.

Do I need to buy the page builder separately?

No: WPBakery Page Builder, Slider Revolution, Timetable and Booked come included with the theme.

Is it Gutenberg-ready and responsive?

It is optimized for Gutenberg, responsive and ready for retina screens.

Can I charge for bookings online?

Bookings are handled by Booked. For selling products you have WooCommerce, but if you want online payment for each lesson, check in the demo first how it fits your workflow.
