About WC Vendors Membership
For the marketplace that wants to charge vendors a fee, not just a commission
If your marketplace lives on commissions alone, your income depends on other people selling. WC Vendors Membership lets you create membership plans that your vendors sign up to in order to publish, with different limits on each one.
It suits anyone who already has or is about to build a marketplace with WC Vendors and wants predictable income. It is not for you if you want to sell memberships to your end customers: the plans are only for vendors and are not shown in the store. It also does not work in isolation: to charge on a recurring basis you need WooCommerce Subscriptions, and plan-based commissions use the commission types of WC Vendors Pro.
Plans with a ceiling: products, disk, files and categories
You can create as many plan versions as you like and customise them. Each plan supports these controls:
- Subscription price and signup fee
- Plan expiry
- Limit on publishable products
- Limit on disk space and on number of files
- Allowed categories
- Commission type
The file and disk limit makes vendors upload only what is relevant, so your hosting does not fill up with forgotten images.
A different commission depending on the plan the vendor pays for
Each plan can carry its own commission. The available types are those of WC Vendors Pro:
- Fixed, or fixed plus fee
- Percentage, or percentage plus fee
- Based on the vendor's sales
- Based on the product's sales
- Based on the product price
What happens when a vendor goes over the WC Vendors Membership limit
The vendor picks a plan at signup or from their settings page, and can see when it renews or whether it was cancelled. If they exceed the product count of their plan, the system automatically disables creating new products, with no need for you to watch over it. They can upgrade, downgrade or cancel whenever they want.
Gateways: any that works with WooCommerce Subscriptions
Any gateway compatible with WooCommerce Subscriptions will do. The recommended one is WC Vendors Stripe Connect, because with a single gateway you charge subscriptions, process orders and pay your vendors. Refunds with that gateway are only available with WC Vendors Pro.
Common questions before setting up the plans
Can I charge the membership automatically?
Yes, if you use WooCommerce Subscriptions. Without it you will not have recurring charges.
Do store customers see the plans?
No. Only vendors see the plans.
Can a vendor change plans?
Yes, they can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time.
How many plans can I create?
As many as you want, each with its own limits.
Do I need WC Vendors Pro?
Plan-based commissions use the commission types of WC Vendors Pro, so count on it if you want that feature.
