About Woo Sell Services
For anyone selling custom work who already takes payments with WooCommerce
Selling a service usually ends the same way: the client pays, you ask what they need, they answer half of it by email and the final file gets lost in another thread. The money arrives quickly, but the work starts from a poorly defined request. Woo Sell Services targets that gap: the WooCommerce order stops being a receipt and becomes the file for the job.
It suits you if you are a freelancer, an agency or a store owner offering migrations or other work with requirements and a delivery date. It is not a fit if:
- You do not use WooCommerce: it is an add-on that relies on its product, cart and order.
- You need bookings with a calendar and time slots: the plugin is built around requirements, conversation and delivery.
- You want to sell by subscription: you need WooCommerce Subscriptions active.
- You want third parties to sell: for that you need Dokan, WCFM or WC Vendors.
The client pays first and answers the brief afterwards
In the product data panel a Service checkbox appears next to Virtual and Downloadable. You can tick it on simple, variable, grouped or external products, so you do not have to rebuild your catalog: a service is one of the products you already have.
When you create the service you attach the questions the buyer will answer after payment. Work starts once the requirements are on the order, not when someone remembers to ask for them. If you offer several similar services, you save that set of questions as a template and apply it to the next one instead of retyping it.
Woo Sell Services turns the order into a workroom
Everything happens on the WooCommerce order, without the client leaving the store or you learning another dashboard:
- Estimated delivery date: you set it when creating the service and can change it later; the client sees the change.
- Conversation and files: a thread on the order and shared documents up to the final delivery.
- Status and alerts: order tracking with notifications for both sides when someone replies or the status moves forward.
- Delivery and review: you attach the final file and mark the delivery; the client rates the vendor and that rating syncs with the standard WooCommerce review on the product.
If an order needs more than one person, you can hand it to a support agent.
Renewing services and marketplaces with Dokan, WCFM or WC Vendors
With WooCommerce Subscriptions active, you can sell a service on a recurring plan and every renewal stays in a single conversation thread. Without that plugin, this part is not available.
If you already run a marketplace, the plugin works with three multivendor plugins:
- Dokan: vendors add services from their frontend dashboard and manage their orders there.
- WCFM: service orders appear alongside product orders in the vendor panel.
- WC Vendors: each vendor manages their own services and delivery threads.
A vendor can add a co-author or a support agent to a service or to a specific order, who will see the conversation and receive its notifications.
Shortcodes to build your own order pages
If you do not want to depend on My Account, there are four shortcodes to place the screens wherever you like:
- [wss_services_shortcode]: the buyer's list of services, split into active, completed and cancelled.
- [wss_services_provider_shortcode]: the vendor's order queue, with the same status tabs and a search box.
- [wss_single_order]: a full order, from the answered requirements to the delivered file.
- [wss_services_notifications_shortcode]: a notifications page for whichever side is signed in.
Questions before installing Woo Sell Services
Do I have to create a new product type?
No: you tick the Service checkbox on an existing WooCommerce product, whether simple, variable, grouped or external.
When does the client answer my questions?
After paying, on the order page itself. That is why clear questions matter: they are all you will have before you start.
Can I reuse the questions on other services?
Yes, you save one service's questions as a template and apply it to another.
Does it work without a marketplace plugin?
Yes, for selling your own services in your store. Dokan, WCFM or WC Vendors are only needed if you want other vendors to publish theirs.
