About WooCommerce Dynamic Pricing
A store with wholesalers, members and bulk buyers
Setting a different price depending on who buys and how much they buy often ends in duplicated catalogs, coupons the customer forgets or discounts you grant by hand over email. WooCommerce Dynamic Pricing adjusts the price automatically using rules you define once.
It suits you if your margin is negotiated by volume or customer type: a wholesaler doesn't buy like a private customer, and a member expects their status to show without asking for it.
It won't help if you're after a code the customer types in (WooCommerce coupons exist for that) or if your store has a handful of products with a single price for everyone.
Counting units: the detail that decides whether the discount is fair
In the quantity tables you define tiers and choose a fixed adjustment, a percentage or a fixed price for the product. What matters is what gets added up to reach the tier:
- The product quantity in the cart.
- Each variation separately.
- Each cart line item, designed for products with add-ons or with Gravity Forms Product Add-ons.
- The categories in the cart.
Each rule can be limited to a specific role. Example: 5% for everyone and 10% for Gold Members from 5 units.
Dynamic Pricing for the customer who already has a label
With role pricing, any user role gets a discount on every product. Logged-in customers see their price in the shop, on the product page and in the cart. It works for wholesalers, Gold or Premium members.
By category
There are two ways. The simple one applies a percentage or a fixed amount to everything in a category (for example, t-shirts). The advanced one adds tiers: 10% off paperbacks when buying 5 or more from that category.
Buy 2, get 1 free, and discounts by order total
A special offer rule allows the classic 2-for-3: you buy 2, you receive 1 with a 100% discount. Three $30 items cost $60. In addition, Order Totals Pricing takes a percentage off carts above the amount you set, for guests or for specific roles.
It includes specific code for Memberships, Product Bundles, Product Add-ons, Gravity Forms Product Add-ons, Groups and WooCommerce Brands. It also supports the Cart and Checkout blocks and High-Performance Order Storage.
The struck-through price doesn't always appear
The shop and the product page show the adjusted price next to the struck-through regular price for role, category and brand pricing, and for tiers that start at one unit. Quantity tiers and buy X get Y offers update the price in the cart as items are added. If your campaign depends on the customer seeing the discount before adding to the cart, keep this in mind: with tiers that start at several units, they'll see it in the cart.
Coupons apply on top of the adjustments. If a coupon excludes sale items, there's a filter (wc_dynamic_pricing_check_coupons) so it skips lines that were already adjusted; it requires touching code.
