About WooCommerce MSRP Pricing
When the customer has already checked the price in another tab
Shoppers buying a branded product have almost always compared prices before reaching your store. If your price appears alone, without context, the customer can't tell whether it's a good deal and has to find out on their own, often on a competitor's site. MSRP Pricing lets you put the manufacturer's recommended retail price up front, so the comparison happens on your page, in your favor.
The key in this kind of store is that the recommended price works as a reference, not as decoration. It only helps you sell if it's the price customers can find elsewhere. If you inflate it, the effect backfires.
How MSRP Pricing looks on the product page
The plugin adds a field called MSRP on the product edit screen, next to the usual pricing data. You enter the recommended price there and it is shown on the sales pages.
- Default display: the MSRP appears struck out, like a sale price, next to your real price.
Import the MSRP in bulk and style it your way
If you load your catalog with a bulk import, the MSRP can be brought in with the meta field _msrp, so there's no need to edit product by product.
The look is yours: all the content sits inside a div with the class woocommerce_msrp and the price itself inside a span with the class woocommerce_msrp_price. With a few lines of CSS you can change the color or size, or remove the strikethrough, so it fits your theme.
It is compatible with Composite Products, Google Product Feed, high-performance order storage (HPOS) and the cart and checkout blocks.
Is MSRP Pricing right for you if you sell products with variations?
This is a very specific plugin: it stores and displays a reference price. It doesn't calculate discounts, create offers or change your selling price. It also doesn't verify that the MSRP you enter is correct, that is up to you. And it requires WooCommerce, because it is an extension for that store platform.
One detail to watch: for products with variations, the catalog may show the MSRP as a range instead of a single price. If your store relies on variable products and you want a single reference figure, test it first in the demo or in a staging environment.
Is it always shown struck out?
That is the default, but you can change the style with CSS using the classes mentioned above.
Can I load the MSRP from a CSV?
Yes, through the meta field _msrp in the product import.
Does it work with the cart and checkout blocks?
Yes, it is compatible with the cart and checkout blocks, and with HPOS.
Does it change my selling price?
No. It only records and displays the recommended price; your real price stays as you already configured it.
