About WooCommerce Newsletter Subscription
Your store has been selling for months, yet every customer who buys leaves with nothing more than an order. If you have no way of talking to them again, your only route to a repeat purchase is paying for ads to find them once more. Newsletter Subscription fills exactly that gap: it turns someone who already bought from you into a contact on your mailing list.
Your best list has already been through checkout
In an online store, someone who has already bought is the cheapest contact you will ever have. Yet many businesses spend on attracting new traffic while their buyers are on no list at all. This plugin starts from that idea: the best newsletter list is the one that includes every customer you have ever had.
Walkthrough: from an order to a list you can use
Step 1: you choose where your list lives
You connect the plugin to your email marketing provider. The supported ones are ActiveCampaign, ActiveTrail, Brevo (formerly Sendinblue), Campaign Monitor, MailChimp, MailerLite, MailPoet 3 and Sendgrid. If you use AWeber, there is a separate extension for it, and this plugin does not cover it. If your provider is not on the list, you will need to decide whether it suits you before buying.
Step 2: you add a checkbox at checkout
During checkout, an option appears to subscribe with a single click to the list you have chosen.
Step 3: the same on account registration
The registration form can also include the subscription.
Step 4: you automate by order status
You can optionally subscribe customers when their order reaches a specific status. For example, it makes sense to wait until the order is completed rather than adding someone who cancels or whose payment fails. This plugin handles the subscription: the emails, templates and sending are done from your provider.
Step 5: you open the door to the rest of the store
With the subscription widget you can place a form in the sidebar or in any widget area.
Step 6: you check the numbers
A widget on the WordPress dashboard shows the main statistics and the trend in total subscribers, without leaving your store. It is a minimalist summary: to analyze opens or clicks you will need to go to your email provider.
Questions to ask before installing it
Does it send the newsletters?
No. It feeds your list; designing and sending campaigns is done in the email marketing tool you connect.
Where can customers subscribe?
At checkout, on account registration, and anywhere you place the subscription widget.
Can I subscribe only certain orders?
Yes, you can configure automatic subscription when the order reaches a given status.
Does it work with the cart and checkout block editor?
Yes, it is compatible with the WooCommerce cart and checkout blocks and with high performance order storage (HPOS).
What to weigh before deciding
- You need WooCommerce, since the plugin works on checkout and orders.
- You need an account with one of the supported providers.
- If you email customers, review consent and data protection rules in your country: the plugin offers an optional checkbox, but compliance depends on how you set it up.
If your store already has orders and an empty or outdated mailing list, Newsletter Subscription is a small piece that fixes exactly that.
