About WordPress Blog to PDF
For people who publish a lot and want to be read offline (and for those who don't)
Having hundreds of articles on a blog doesn't help much if readers can only view them on screen, one by one, and with a connection. People who write guides, stories, training material or news usually end up copying text into Word to put together a dossier. WordPress Blog to PDF automates that step: it turns your posts into a PDF catalog that can be read offline or printed.
It suits you if you have a blog with plenty of content and want to offer a downloadable collection, or archive your posts in a stable format. It doesn't suit you if you want to lay out a book by hand, page by page: the plugin generates the document from templates and settings, and it isn't an editorial design editor. Nor is it an order system or a store product catalog: it works with blog posts.
The full catalog or just one category
You can generate a PDF with all your posts or limit it to the current category. That matters more than it seems: a reader of your gardening series doesn't want to carry ten years of archive. With subcategories, you can show them inside the document and, if you don't want duplicated content, exclude the parent category's posts when the child ones are shown.
The plugin also works with custom post types: the taxonomy is assigned automatically when the argument is missing.
More than 30 layout combinations in the PDF
There are 5 category layouts and 7 post layouts, which gives more than 30 possible combinations. On top of that you can adjust:
- Custom header and footer, split into one half, two halves or three thirds.
- Typography: custom fonts, text size, line height and alignment.
- Images and spacing: image size, vertical alignment, container padding and background color.
- Visible elements: image, title, excerpt, description, categories, tags and QR code, which you can show or hide.
- Link position and page numbering.
- Post date, which you can show if you need it.
Table of contents, QR and extra text in every post
A printed PDF loses the context of the website, and three extras help there. You can add a table of contents for every post. A QR code of your posts can be added. And you can add extra text before or after the posts.
How it is launched: shortcode or limited access
You can place the catalog with the shortcode [wp_pdf_catalog text="text" category="full or category ID"], where you choose whether it is the full catalog or one for a specific category. There is also an option to limit access, for example if the collection is exclusive material.
Check in the demo how your type of content looks (lots of images, long text or posts with complex layouts) before choosing a layout.
