About WP Grid Builder
Filtering without reloading: what a large catalog needs
When a site grows from twenty to two hundred posts, products or projects, the standard WordPress archive page stops working: visitors have to browse instead of find, and most leave. WP Grid Builder is made for that moment: it queries your content, lays it out in a grid and adds filters that respond in real time.
A badly designed filter does more harm than having none: if a visitor picks an option and gets zero results, they assume you don't have what they want. That's why it matters that the faceted search shows only options with relevant content, which is exactly what this plugin sets out to do.
Grids, carousels and cards designed by hand
You can display content in three layouts: Masonry, Justified and Metro, and any of them can become a responsive carousel. Each item is designed with the card builder, which has a drag and drop interface.
- Cards: it comes with more than 20 ready-made ones to customize, or you can create your own from scratch.
- Custom fields: you can display them in the cards and pick them from the builder itself if you use ACF, Meta Box or Pods.
- Content source: post types, taxonomy terms, users or files from the media library.
- Stores: it can display and filter products from WooCommerce and Easy Digital Downloads.
More than 20 facets so every filter makes sense
Facets filter by taxonomy terms, post fields or custom fields. There are checkboxes, radio, select, buttons, hierarchy, range, rating, date, search, sort, reset and load more.
Filtering works with Ajax and a custom indexer, and you can also use facets to filter third-party content without needing a grid or cards.
What to know before buying
It's a tool with a learning curve: you'll have to decide queries, cards and facets separately. Filters rely on an index, so think about which fields you'll filter on before building them. Customizing behavior in depth requires code: there are hooks for facets and the indexer, but that's developer territory. And it isn't a page builder: it doesn't replace yours, it handles grids and filters.

No. There are cases designed for store, portfolio, blog and resources with content types or users.
Can I filter by custom fields?
Yes, and cards can also display them if you use ACF, Meta Box or Pods.
Can I use the filters without a grid?
Yes, facets can filter third-party content without the grid and card features.
Do I need to code?
Not for normal use: the builder is visual. Code only comes in if you want to create your own facet types or change their behavior.
The filter index is prepared before you publish the grid
Start with the query: choose which content is shown. Then design or adapt a card, add the facets your visitor would really use, and check in the demo closest to your type of site how the results behave. A few well-chosen filters work better than twenty at once. Also test the grid on mobile, where filters take up more space than it seems.
