About WP Statistics - Advanced Widgets

For people who already measure with WP Statistics and want to show some of that data

Visit data usually stays locked inside the admin panel, and anyone who wants to show it ends up with a number copied by hand or a third-party counter that doesn't match their design. WP Statistics - Advanced Widgets solves exactly that: it takes the figures out of the panel and puts them on pages and sidebars.

It makes sense if you already use WP Statistics (or are about to) and want your readers to see certain data about your site. It doesn't make sense if you are looking for more reports for yourself: it is an add-on that displays data, it doesn't collect it or add analysis to the admin area. Without WP Statistics installed it does not work.

A counter with few visits works against you

A public figure is a shop window. If your site is new or niche, a "2 users online" in plain view of the visitor impresses nobody. A site with steady readership, on the other hand, gains by showing its activity. Before placing a visits widget, look at your real numbers and decide whether they work in your favor.

Popular pages: the widget that actually helps the visitor

Of everything WP Statistics - Advanced Widgets offers, the most useful item for someone arriving on your site is not the counter but the list of most visited pages. It works like a recommendation: the new reader sees where to start. For a blog, a resource site or documentation, that list in the sidebar guides better than any menu.

  • Traffic: visits, visitors and online users.
  • Pages and browsers: the most popular pages and the browsers most used by your visitors.
  • Summary and search engines: an overview of the site's performance, including visits that arrive from search engines.

The most used browsers matter more to whoever runs the site than to the reader; think about whether you really want to show them.

Gutenberg blocks or theme widgets, depending on where you want it

You can add the data in two ways: with Gutenberg blocks inside any page or post, or with classic theme widgets in the widget areas. It is useful if your theme still works with traditional sidebars, and also if you prefer to place a figure in the middle of an article.

You can adjust the look and layout to fit your design, and remove or rearrange widgets whenever you like. Even so, check in the demo how it looks with your theme's typography and colors before committing to a design.

Questions from people already working with WP Statistics

Does it work without the base plugin?

No. It is an add-on for WP Statistics and needs that plugin active to have data to display.

Can I show the stats of other sites?

That is not what the product describes: it shows the data of the site where it is installed.

Do I have to use Gutenberg?

No. You can choose between Gutenberg blocks and traditional theme widgets.

Can I change the look?

Yes, you can adapt the layout and appearance to your design. And if a widget doesn't convince you, you can remove or move it without hassle.
