About YITH Dynamic Pricing Per Payment Method Premium

Gateway fees eat into your margin and you don't want to raise prices

Every payment gateway charges differently, and when you set a product price you have to decide whether to absorb that fee or spread it across everyone. If you build it into the price, customers who pay with a cheaper method see a higher amount than necessary and may go buy elsewhere. If you absorb it, some orders are sold with a squeezed margin.

The real cost of an order depends on how it is paid, not just on what the product costs. YITH Dynamic Pricing Per Payment Method moves that adjustment to the exact moment the customer chooses how to pay: there you apply a fee or a discount on the cart total and the catalog price stays untouched.

Rules per payment method: what you can adjust and where it falls short

For each available payment method you create one or more rules, and each rule applies to the cart total. These are the conditions you can combine:

  • Fee or discount as a fixed amount or as a percentage of the cart subtotal.
  • User roles: the rule only affects the roles you choose.
  • Products in the cart: you can activate it only if certain products are present.
  • Minimum and maximum amount of the cart for the rule to apply.
  • Start and end dates with a calendar, useful for a temporary promotion on a specific method.
  • Taxes: you decide whether or not they are included in the amount on which the variation is calculated.
  • Checkout notes: messages next to each payment method to explain the fee or discount to the customer.

There is one limit worth knowing: the adjustment does not work on orders created manually from the admin by you or a shop manager. The payment page of an existing order does not recalculate totals, so the fee would not appear. Also, the plugin adjusts amounts: payment methods must already be set up in WooCommerce.

Common questions before creating your first rule

Can I give a discount only to customers who pay with a specific method?

Yes. You create a rule for that method with a fixed or percentage discount, and it is applied at checkout when the customer selects it.

Can I limit it to a few days?

Yes, each rule accepts a start and end date, so a promotion on a payment method switches on and off by itself.

Does it work for orders I enter from the dashboard?

No. It is a WooCommerce limitation: the payment page of an existing order does not allow it to be modified or its totals to be recalculated.

Does it work for multilingual stores?

It is compatible with WPML and Loco Translate, and comes in English, Italian and Spanish.

What about EU VAT?

It integrates with YITH WooCommerce EU VAT, OSS & IOSS, but that plugin is separate and must be active to take advantage of it.

A discount for paying by bank transfer is a promotion that leaves your catalog alone

The fee is the defensive side, but the rule also works the other way around: if one method costs you less, you can steer customers toward it with a visible discount at checkout. Since the adjustment is calculated when the method is chosen, your products keep the same price in listings and product pages, and you don't have to edit them one by one.

Combined with user roles, you can reserve the advantage for specific customers, such as wholesalers, and with the cart minimum and maximum you avoid a fixed fee looking absurd on very small or very large orders.

Each rule is tested at checkout with its own payment method

Once YITH Dynamic Pricing Per Payment Method is installed, the real work is thinking through the rules, not configuring them. Start with a single rule for the method that costs you the most in fees and check it at checkout by selecting each gateway. Verify that the amount changes when you switch methods and that the note appears where you want it.

Then test the conditions: a cart below the minimum, another above the maximum and a session with the affected role. Also check that the calculation handles your taxes the way you expect. With the rules list in view, sorting cases by method will help you avoid overlaps.
