Your client lands on a project, not on your homepage
Building a portfolio often ends with a beautiful homepage nobody sees, because the people who hire you arrive from a link to a specific piece of work, a social network or an email, and they judge you by that page. If the project looks weak, it doesn't matter how polished the home is.
Zonar is a portfolio theme for designers, video producers, architects and photographers, and it spreads its effort accordingly: six home page styles, but also four portfolio page styles and five project detail styles. That's where it gets decided whether they contact you or not.
From the home page to the contact message: the Zonar walkthrough
This is how a typical case comes together, that of a photography or architecture studio that wants to show its work and receive commissions:
- Choose the version. There is one for Elementor and another for WPBakery. Ajax page transitions between pages only exist in the WPBakery one; if you want them, decide here.
- Import the demo. It comes with a demo data importer and sample content, so you start from a site already built and replace it with your own material. A child theme is also included.
- Pick the home page. Six styles: slider, slideshow, image, carousel, Revolution Slider or video. Revolution Slider is not included, you would have to install it separately.
- Organise your work. You choose between four portfolio styles and five detail styles, with a one-page or multi-page version.
- Open the door to contact. It includes styling for Contact Form 7, but you have to install the plugin yourself.
- Adjust the brand. A colour selector changes the global tone (orange by default), there are Google Fonts and you can set a different logo for mobile.
Questions before choosing Zonar
Can I use it without Elementor or WPBakery?
There is a version for each of the two. Choose the one you already know.
Can I sell with a shop?
It includes WooCommerce support, but its core is the portfolio. If your business is the shop, check in the demo how the products look.
Can the site be translated?
It has its own translation options and compatibility with WPML string translation.
Do I need to know how to code?
Not for the basics: there is an options panel built with Redux, a shortcode generator and custom widgets. A developer, on the other hand, will find tidy code and a child theme to extend it.
Parallax and video backgrounds: use them where the work calls for it
The theme allows full-screen backgrounds, parallax effects and video backgrounds from YouTube, Vimeo or HTML5, plus a scrolling page where background and text change depending on the section. It is a good showcase for a videographer, but a photographer may prefer to let the images speak for themselves. Test on mobile before filling it with effects, because the people reviewing you often do it from a phone.
A theme that adapts to your technical level
Designed for those who don't code, with detailed documentation and an options panel, but also for those who do: valid HTML5 and CSS3, Bootstrap and Font Awesome icons. It works on desktop, tablet and mobile screens, with a design ready for retina displays.
