About ACF Views Pro

You have your data neatly stored in custom fields and custom post types, but getting it onto the site often ends in custom PHP templates, shortcodes from another plugin that don't do exactly what you need, or blocks copied from page to page. ACF Views Pro covers that stretch: you choose which fields or posts to show and place it wherever you want with a shortcode.

If you store data in fields, you need to display it the same way everywhere

A property catalogue, an events calendar or a shop with technical sheets have something in common: the content repeats with the same structure hundreds of times. The problem isn't storing it, it's that every time someone tweaks a card's design you have to touch it in ten places. ACF Views Pro works with modular, reusable layouts: you define the template once and insert it wherever needed.

What ACF Views Pro does with your fields and your posts

There are two main uses:

  • Displaying fields: from a specific page, from an entire content type (for example, the estimated delivery time on all products), from the site's options page (contact details) or from the current user (a custom banner or a profile).
  • Displaying listings: posts from a category, related products in a grid or carousel, upcoming events while hiding past ones, properties filtered by location, size or type, or location markers on a map.

Listings rely on the native WordPress query, with filtering and sorting by post fields, taxonomies and meta values. It supports ACF fields (text, select, image, gallery, repeater, relationship), Meta Box fields, Pods fields, native post fields (title, featured image, author, terms) and WooCommerce product fields (price, SKU, stock, weight). If you need data from an external source, such as an API, it is integrated into the layouts using code snippets.

What the Pro version adds and what still takes some code

Repeater and relationship fields, AJAX pagination, sliders and lightboxes are part of what sets Pro apart from the free version. That said, more elaborate effects, such as custom grids or sliders, are achieved by editing the template code directly, and custom variables or logic require writing PHP. You don't need to code for basic use, but with some HTML and CSS you will get much more out of it.

Frequently asked questions

Does it only work with ACF?

No. It also works with Meta Box, Pods, native posts, custom post types and WooCommerce products.

Does it work with my theme or page builder?

It is designed for any theme and for builders that support shortcodes or HTML blocks, as well as Gutenberg.

Do I have to know how to code?

For normal use you don't, but with basic HTML and CSS knowledge you can customise much more.

Can it create archive pages for a content type?

Yes, you can build listings of any registered content type, with filtering and sorting, and place them with a shortcode.

One shortcode per layout: how each piece gets placed

Each layout you create is inserted by pasting its shortcode wherever you need it: a page, a post, an HTML block or your builder's editor. It's best to start with a single content type and a simple card, check how it looks with your theme's styles and only then add listings, filters and pagination. That way you quickly spot whether the layout inherits your typography and colours well, and you avoid redoing templates later.
