About AIO SEO Redirection Manager Addon
When you delete or move a page and Google keeps sending visitors there
Redesigning a site, changing a URL structure or deleting old posts looks like an internal task, but each visit to an old address ends in a 404 if nobody planned for it. AIOSEO Redirection Manager Addon is the redirect module of the AIOSEO plugin: it makes sure those visits reach the new page instead of getting lost.
Redirects without touching .htaccess
You create each redirect from an interface inside WordPress, without editing server files or writing rules by hand. You can choose between several types:
- 301: permanent, for pages that have changed address for good.
- 302 and 307: temporary, for maintenance or one-off promotions.
- Regex and wildcard rules: for dynamic URLs or URLs with parameters that can't be handled one by one.
You can also schedule temporary redirects that return to the original URL when the period ends, or set a permanent one for a specific day. This is useful, for example, for a short campaign or the move from HTTP to HTTPS.
Detecting 404s and moving whole sites without starting from scratch
When you delete or move content, AIOSEO suggests the redirect to avoid the error. It also monitors your site for 404s and broken links, notifies you, and you can fix them from the WordPress dashboard.
For migrations, there are bulk tools: importing redirects from a CSV, bringing them in from other redirect plugins, and redirecting an entire site to another domain. The logs record the hits, user agents and referrers of each redirect.
Redirects are stored in the WordPress database, so they keep working if you change themes.
Deciding whether this addon is enough for your redirects
It is an add-on for the AIOSEO plugin, not a standalone tool: you need AIOSEO installed and active to use it. If you only want redirects and not a whole SEO suite, keep that in mind before deciding.
Can I import redirects from another plugin?
Yes. There are import and export tools to migrate from other plugins or sites, and you can also load redirects in bulk with a CSV file.
Does it work for changing domains?
Yes, it lets you redirect the whole site to another domain by importing your URLs and defining site-wide rules.
Can I make a redirect expire on its own?
Yes, temporary ones return to the original URL when the period you set ends. It works for maintenance or short promotions.
Does it fix 404s for me without me doing anything?
Not entirely: it detects the errors and notifies you, but you decide and create the redirect from the dashboard. Check the notices after every major content change.
Are redirects lost if I change themes?
No, they depend on the WordPress database and not on the theme.
