About Automatic Translate Addon For TranslatePress (Pro)

Translating every string by hand is what slows down a multilingual site

With TranslatePress, the heavy work comes after you enable your languages: opening the visual editor, clicking text by text and typing the translation of every sentence, every button and every title. On a site with many pages, that task eats up weeks and is often the reason the version in another language stays half finished.

Automatic Translate Addon For TranslatePress (Pro) is an add-on designed to take that repetitive part off your hands: it translates front-end content with automatic translation, without you having to select each line.

Machine translation is a draft, not a final text

Anyone building a multilingual site tends to run into a problem that only shows up late: machine-translated content gets published fast, but nobody reviews it. A badly translated menu or a buy button with a strange meaning stands out right away in a real business. Think of this add-on as the one that gives you a first draft, and set aside time to review the pages that really sell or inform.

What Automatic Translate Addon For TranslatePress does and where it falls short

  • Bulk translation: instead of going word by word, it translates the page content without selecting each line.
  • AI translation: content is translated with artificial intelligence. Check in your own installation which engines actually appear.
  • Front-end content: the translation is aimed at what visitors see on the site, not at rewriting your site from the admin panel.

What it doesn't do: it is an add-on and doesn't work on its own. It needs TranslatePress installed and active, because it works on top of its translation system. Nor does it replace a human translator: it doesn't understand your brand's tone, wordplay or the terminology of your industry. And don't count on it covering every corner of the site (text inside images, for example) without checking.

Questions people ask before installing it

Does it work without TranslatePress?

No. It is an add-on for TranslatePress and relies on it to store and display the translations.

Do I need to review what it translates?

Yes, you should. Machine translation gets simple sentences right and fails on nuance. Review the home page, product pages and forms above all.

Can it translate a whole site at once?

It is designed to avoid translating string by string manually. Try one page first to see how much it covers before going ahead with the whole site.

Can I fix a translation that comes out wrong?

Normally the translations stay inside TranslatePress, where you can edit them by hand. Check it in your first test.

Start with a single page before launching the rest

Before translating everything, pick a representative page, for example the one that gets the most traffic, and translate it with the add-on. See how the menus, buttons and long texts turn out. If you like the result, repeat the process with the rest; if not, you'll know which parts you need to review by hand. It is much cheaper to find out with one page than with fifty.
