About AutomatorWP Amelia Addon
A canceled appointment is information too
A client cancels her session for next week. The calendar already knows; your tracking sheet, your receptionist and whoever was going to call to confirm do not.
A booking business tends to automate what happens when someone books and leaves the cancellation to whoever finds it. Yet a cancellation is a notice with a date, a client and a service.
This add-on connects Amelia, the WordPress booking plugin, with AutomatorWP, the automation plugin. Each booking or cancellation can start an automation, and its data stays available to the actions you choose.
Nine booking moments you can listen to
Six triggers respond to logged-in users and three to guests. They keep their English names:
- User books an appointment (Free): the user books an appointment.
- User books an appointment for a service (Pro): they book an appointment for a specific service.
- User books for an event (Pro): they book a place at an event.
- User cancels an appointment (Pro): they cancel an appointment.
- User cancels an appointment for a service (Pro): they cancel one for a specific service.
- User cancels an event (Pro): they cancel an event.
- Guest books an appointment (Free): a guest books an appointment.
- Guest books an appointment for a service (Pro): they book one for a specific service.
- Guest books for an event (Pro): they book for an event.
The data from each booking travels to the action
Tags carry Amelia's information to the next steps, so the action is not limited to knowing that something happened:
- Customer (Free): email, name and other details of the person.
- Booking (Free): status, number of persons and price.
- Appointment (Free): status and start and end dates.
- Event (Pro): name, price and capacity.
Three combinations to start from:
- A user books an appointment and MemberPress adds a membership for them.
- A user books for a specific event and SliceWP adds a referral for them.
- A user books an appointment for a service and Google Sheets adds a row to a sheet.
The idea from the opening is built the same way: the cancellation trigger with the add-a-row action leaves a record of cancellations. Test that combination with a real appointment before relying on it.
It listens to Amelia but gives it no orders
It has no actions. It provides triggers and tags. It does not create, move or cancel appointments from an automation; what happens next comes from other AutomatorWP integrations, and each destination needs its own.
Among the guest triggers there are no cancellations. The three that exist cover bookings. If your clients book without an account, that cancellation falls outside this add-on.
An anonymous automation supports a single trigger. That type applies the actions to a user selected or created in its first step.
A test booking to check the whole path
You need Amelia and AutomatorWP active, plus this add-on and the integration for the destination tool. To check the whole path:
- Create a test service in Amelia.
- In AutomatorWP, create an automation and add an Amelia trigger.
- Add an action from another integration and place the customer or appointment tags where needed.
- Activate it and book with a test account.
- Check that the data arrives correctly and repeat the path by canceling that appointment.
The booking system and the engines in the catalog
Amelia is the booking system these triggers depend on, with appointments, events and per-provider Google Calendar sync.
AutomatorWP Pro is the paid edition of the engine, where an automation can chain several conditions and steps.
Uncanny Automator Pro is another engine inside WordPress, based on recipes, with scheduled delays and conditional paths.
How it behaves with clients and editions
Does it work without AutomatorWP or without Amelia?
No. It is the bridge between them and needs both plugins active.
Does it recognize bookings from people without an account?
Yes, with the three guest triggers.
Does it detect when someone cancels?
Yes, for logged-in users: appointments, appointments for a service and events. All three triggers belong to the Pro edition.
What can be done with the Free edition?
React when a user or a guest books an appointment, and use the customer, booking and appointment tags.
