About BuddyPress Group Tabs Creator Pro
If your community has very different groups and all of them show the same tabs
In a community with one group for a course, another for a club and another for an internal team, BuddyPress gives every one the same row of tabs. The result is empty or irrelevant tabs, and members quickly learn to ignore them. This plugin lets you decide which tabs each type of group has.
It suits you if you run a BuddyPress community and want each group to show only what belongs to it. It is not for you in these cases:
- If you need to add or remove sub-tabs inside a tab that already exists in the group: it can't, because BuddyPress does not manage those sub-tabs as a properly managed collection.
- If you want tabs on the user profile: this plugin works only with groups, and there is another one from the same developer for profiles.
- If you don't use BuddyPress (or the BuddyBoss platform): it is an add-on and does not work on its own.
A tab for the course and another for the club, with your own content
With BuddyPress Group Tabs Creator Pro you create as many group tabs and sub-tabs as you want, with no cap. Each one holds content you write in the editor, with the media buttons enabled by default, so you can add media.
If some existing tabs don't fit, you can also edit and reorder them. And if a tab is not needed at all, the "None" option under "Enabled For" removes it completely.
Who sees each tab in BuddyPress Group Tabs Creator Pro
What makes it useful in a mixed community is the scope control. A tab can be limited in several ways:
- By group status.
- By one or more specific groups that you choose.
- By group type: if you pick a type, the settings apply only to groups of that type.
- By excluding specific groups so they don't show certain tabs.
You can also restrict visibility to certain users, including group moderators, and there are sub-tabs reserved for the site administrator.
Landing tab and sub-tabs: what you can adjust
Optionally you set which tab opens when someone enters a group. It helps when the default activity is not what you want to show first, for example a course group where the syllabus should come first. There is also a filter to show a sub-tab even when it is the only one.
The plugin is compatible with WPML for multilingual communities. If someone visits a restricted tab without permission, recent BuddyPress versions return a 404 instead of a blank page.

Does it work with BuddyBoss?
Yes, it supports the BuddyBoss platform, including using its subgroups tab as the default tab.
Can I add a sub-tab to a group's "Members" tab?
No. You can create your own tabs with their sub-tabs, but you can't add or remove sub-tabs in the tabs the group already has.
Can I show a tab only to groups of one type?
Yes, by selecting that group type in the tab's scope.
Does it customize the user profile?
No, it only manages group tabs.
