About Checkout Field Editor and Manager for WooCommerce - Pro
Every checkout field costs sales
Worth keeping in mind before touching anything, because this kind of plugin usually gets used the wrong way round. Every box the customer has to fill in to pay is a chance for them to think twice, and on a phone, with the keyboard covering half the screen, considerably more so.
This plugin lets you edit WooCommerce checkout fields by dragging. Its most profitable use is not adding: it is removing what you do not need and making the rest appear only when relevant.
What can be done
- Hiding and reordering the fields WooCommerce ships with.
- Adding your own fields, with more than twenty types: text, phone, date, time, file upload, colour picker, address with autocomplete, checkboxes, toggles.
- Marking which are mandatory and which are not, one by one.
- Validating with your own rules, for checking the format of a tax number or a code.
The feature that genuinely justifies the paid version
Conditional logic. A field appears only if something is true: the product in the cart, the category, the customer's role, the payment or shipping method, the total, or the selected country and region.
That changes the whole approach. Instead of a long form everybody fills in, you have a short one that lengthens only for whoever it applies to. Real examples: asking for the intra-community VAT number only if the customer picks an EU country other than yours; asking for a delivery date only if they chose collection in store; asking for the gift message only if the cart contains something that gets wrapped.
It also allows adding new sections in a dozen different positions in the checkout, charging a fee according to what the customer picks in a field, and showing that data in the emails and on the order page, which is where you genuinely need it when preparing the shipment.
Before adding a field, two questions
Are you going to use it? If the data changes nothing about what you do with the order, do not ask for it. The number of shops asking "how did you hear about us?" at the paying step and never looking at the answer is astonishing.
Could you ask later? Plenty of things can be asked in the confirmation email, when the customer has already paid and is relaxed. That is the moment, not the one before.
Alternatives in the catalogue
If besides editing the fields you want to redesign the whole checkout step, there are two different routes.
Woodokan reorders the purchase process into a shorter form, which is usually what raises mobile conversion. And FunnelKit goes considerably further: it replaces the WooCommerce checkout with its own and adds post-purchase upsells, which is where average order value genuinely rises.
The difference matters: this plugin touches the checkout fields you already have, and those replace them. Changing the checkout pays off more and risks more, because that is where the money lives. If you take that route, make a real end-to-end purchase with your gateway before leaving it published.
And if what you want to customise is not the checkout but the product, with engravings or gift messages, that is product fields.
