About Checkout Files Upload for WooCommerce
When the order isn't complete until a file arrives
Some stores can't make, review or process a product without a document from the customer: a logo to print, a recipe, a reference photo, a proof of something. If that file is requested by email after purchase, the order stalls, the customer takes time to reply and attachments get lost among messages. Checkout Files Upload for WooCommerce moves that request to the moment the customer has already decided: the checkout itself.
Many delays in custom products don't come from production, but from waiting for the customer's material. The sooner the file arrives and is attached to the order, the fewer back-and-forths there are.
What Checkout Files Upload for WooCommerce does at checkout
The plugin adds a file upload field to WooCommerce. You can allow a single file or several, and decide whether the upload is required or optional.
- Accepted file types: you limit the formats (for example, images only or PDF only) so you don't receive what you can't use.
- Maximum size: you set a limit per file.
- Field and button labels: you customize the field text and the upload and remove buttons.
- Custom messages: you can write the notices for wrong file type, file required, successful upload, no file selected and file removed.
- Emails: uploaded files can be added to the admin and customer emails.
Who uses it and for what: three situations
Custom product store
T-shirts, mugs, printing or engraving. The customer uploads their design when paying and you receive it with the order. With file types and size limited, you avoid receiving formats you can't print.
Store where only one type of product needs it
You can show the field only for specific products, categories or tags in the cart. That way, someone buying a standard item doesn't see a field that doesn't apply to them and isn't confused.
Sales that require documentation
If you need a proof, a prescription or an ID document, you can request it with the upload field. If you handle personal or sensitive data, check beforehand how you will store it and who receives it by email.
Where the field can appear
The field doesn't have to go only on checkout. You can also place it on the thank you page and in My Account, which helps when the customer doesn't have the file at hand when buying and can send it later without writing to you.
The position within the checkout form is configurable. The Premium version offers 23 possible positions, compared with 3 in the free version.
Frequently asked questions
Can several files be uploaded at once?
Yes, it supports both one file and several.
Can I ask for the file only for certain products?
Yes. You choose cart products, categories or tags that trigger the field.
Can the customer upload it after paying?
Yes, through the field on the thank you page or in My Account.
Do the files reach me by email?
You can add them to the admin and customer emails.
It's an upload field, not an editor or a design reviewer
The plugin collects and attaches the file, nothing more. It doesn't check image quality, doesn't generate design previews and doesn't replace a product configurator. It also doesn't work without WooCommerce: it's a store add-on, not a standalone plugin.
