About FooEvents Custom Attendee Fields

The buyer of five tickets won't tell you what each person eats

Reaching the day of the event with a spreadsheet full of gaps is more common than it seems: no T-shirt sizes, no idea who is vegetarian, no signed waiver acceptance. Asking by email after the sale means chasing people who already paid and are in no hurry to answer.

The underlying problem is that at an event the person who pays is not always the person who attends. One person buys several tickets and you need data about each attendee, not just the buyer. FooEvents Custom Attendee Fields moves those questions to the moment of purchase, when the customer is paying attention and willing to fill things in.

FooEvents Custom Attendee Fields: your own fields for each attendee

You add the fields your event needs to the checkout and the answers are collected for each attendee, not per order. You can create text fields, dropdowns, checkboxes, radio buttons and other input types, and mark each one as required or optional. That way you decide which data is essential to complete the purchase.

It fits very different cases: meal preferences or dietary requirements, sizes, company and job title, accessibility needs, emergency contact, age groups or experience levels, session or workshop choice, acceptance of waivers or terms, membership or student numbers, and special notes. It works with both the classic WooCommerce checkout and the Checkout Block.

Where the answers end up: order, attendee record and CSV

From the WordPress dashboard you see the custom information linked to each ticket, attendee and WooCommerce order, so you don't have to cross-check data by hand. You can also export attendee data, answers included, to CSV to plan the event, build reports, communicate with people, prepare check-in or take the data to other tools.

Relevant details can also be shown in ticket emails and attendee records, so both the attendee and you have them at hand when needed.

A word of common sense: questions about allergies, accessibility or emergency contacts can touch sensitive data. Ask only for what you will really use and explain to the buyer why you are collecting it.

Without FooEvents for WooCommerce there is nothing to extend

This extension does not work on its own: it needs the main FooEvents for WooCommerce plugin installed and activated. It is an add-on for collecting data, not a complete ticket-selling system. Here is what it covers and what is up to you:

  • Solves: adding custom fields to the ticket checkout.
  • Solves: collecting information for each attendee, with required or optional fields.
  • Solves: viewing the answers in the dashboard and exporting them to CSV.
  • Solves: working with the classic checkout and the Checkout Block.
  • Covered by other FooEvents extensions: bookings, multi-day events, seating or PDF tickets, if you need them.
  • Up to you: writing the text of a waiver or terms. The field records the acceptance, not the legal content.
  • Up to you: deciding what to do with the exported data once it is in your CRM or spreadsheet.

Questions before adding fields to your checkout

Does it work without FooEvents for WooCommerce?

No. It is an extension and requires the main plugin to be installed and activated.

Can I ask for different data from each attendee?

Yes. The information is collected per attendee, which is useful when each ticket holder has different preferences or requirements.

Is it compatible with the WooCommerce Checkout Block?

Yes, it supports both the classic checkout and the Checkout Block.

Can I take the answers to another system?

You can export attendee data, with the custom field answers, to CSV and use it in other tools.
