About Give - Donation Plugin

For the nonprofit that wants to know its donors, not rent them

Setting up a donation campaign in WordPress often ends in an external payment button, a spreadsheet of loose names and no idea of who gave again. Give - Donation Plugin starts from a different idea: the form lives on your own website and the relationship with each donor stays on your site, not on someone else's platform.

It fits you if:

  • You start with a single form and want room to grow into campaigns, recurring gifts and peer-to-peer fundraising.
  • You need to collect your own data from each donor, not just name and amount.
  • You want to accept donations on any page, from a phone or a computer.

It is not for you if you want a crowdfunding site with third-party projects or a tool that manages the whole organization: this is a donation and donor-tracking plugin. Also, payments go through gateways such as Stripe, PayPal or Square, so you need an account with the one you choose.

Give - Donation Plugin and the second gift

Winning the first gift is the expensive part; the second should be the cheap one. That is why recurring payments matter: the donor can choose to give daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually, or you can preset the frequency on the form.

What helps is that donors manage their own subscription: they can update their payment method, pause it or resume it without writing to you. The plugin also sends renewal receipts, payment notices and confirmations on its own, and lets you see subscription performance, recurring revenue and each donor's lifetime value.

Forms that ask only for what you need

The form builder is drag-and-drop and lets you add custom fields, so each campaign collects the data you will actually use. You can set a goal per campaign and show fundraising progress in real time, which encourages hesitant visitors to give.

Payments without friction

  • Stripe, PayPal and Square, plus more than a dozen international gateways.
  • Mobile-friendly forms, with Apple Pay, Google Pay and text-to-give.
  • Donations in the donor's own currency, for people giving from another country.
  • An option for donors to cover processing fees so more money reaches your cause.

Let your best donors fundraise for you

Your most committed people can be your best fundraising team. With peer-to-peer fundraising, each person builds their own campaign page, sets a personal goal and shares it by email and social media. You see each fundraiser's progress, total raised and reach.

You can also create teams and public leaderboards for some friendly competition. Note: this works when you already have a community that moves; the plugin gives you the tools, but it does not bring you the fundraisers.

One record per donor and receipts nobody writes by hand

Each donor has a single profile where you see their gifts, the forms they used and the channel they came from. You can add tags, notes and segments, which is what lets you look after the relationship and not just record transactions.

Receipts go out automatically as PDFs with your organization's branding, and include tributes and dedications. What a receipt must show for tax purposes depends on your country, so check it with your accountant before relying on it.
