About GiveWell – Donation Non-profit Website WordPress Theme
The donor who gives once and never hears from you again
A small nonprofit tends to pour its effort into winning the first donation and neglect what comes next: the donor pays, gets no news and, a year later, has forgotten about it. GiveWell is a theme for NGOs and nonprofit organizations that puts the donation front and center, but also leaves room for what keeps supporters close: events, the organization's values, contact details and a subscription.
The demo illustrates it with meal delivery events and gifts for children.
A donation form on the homepage, on events and in calls to action
In the demo, the donation form appears on the homepage, next to every event and in the blocks with a donate button. Visitors don't have to hunt for a way to help: it's right in front of them when the text moves them. The form asks for:
- The amount to donate.
- The payment method: test donation, offline donation or card through Stripe.
- First name, last name (optional) and email address.
- A visible total before pressing the button.
The test mode notice you see in the demo means no real donation is processed until you turn it off in your own settings. Do that, and make a real donation yourself before announcing the site.
Events, values and contact: the structure GiveWell already comes with
The demo comes with a menu of Home, About, Support Us, Events and Contacts, and the events page expands into specific activities. Around it there are blocks already designed for this kind of organization:
- An events list with date and city, each with its own donate button.
- A values block (verity, transparency, purposefulness) to explain how you work.
- A strip to show sponsors.
- Contact details with phone, opening hours, address and email.
- Social media links and a subscription field.
One important detail: the demo texts (figures about hunger, claims about how every dollar is used, address and phone number) are examples. Replace them with your own verifiable data. Promising transparency without being able to prove it is the fastest way to scare off a donor.
Do you collect donations online or just present your cause? That decides whether GiveWell fits
GiveWell fits if you want an NGO website with donations as the star and events and values sections already designed. It fits less if your organization only needs an informational page with no payments, or if you are after recurring member fees, campaigns with a goal bar or tax receipts: none of that appears in the demo, so check it before counting on it.
Does it include the donation system?
The theme provides the design of the form, but the payment is handled by a donation system. Check what comes with your installation and whether you need to install and configure one separately, along with the payment gateway.
Can I accept donations by bank transfer?
The demo shows an offline donation option, meant for cases where the payment isn't processed on the website. The specific account details or procedure are up to you.
Is it suitable for causes other than childhood?
Yes, as long as you change the images and texts. The structure (donate, events, values, contact) works for any social cause, but the demo examples talk about children and families.
Do I have to change the sample texts?
Yes, all of them. The figures, cities, opening hours and contact details in the demo are not yours and should not be published.
