About Gravity Forms

A simple contact form falls short the day you need a customer to upload a document, pay a deposit, or see only certain questions depending on what they answered. Then the patches start: one plugin for payments, another for files, emails that never arrive and data scattered everywhere. Gravity Forms tries to keep all of that inside the same form.

A real case: an enrollment request from start to finish

Imagine an academy that wants to collect enrollments. This is how the process runs with Gravity Forms:

  • You build the form: you drag fields from the visual editor (there are more than 30 types) or start from a ready-made template, and rearrange them without touching code.
  • You organize the layout: you can place up to four columns per row so the form stays short and adapts to any screen.
  • You filter questions: with conditional logic, someone who picks an adult course sees some fields and someone enrolling a minor sees others. You can show or hide fields, sections, whole pages and buttons.
  • You ask for documents: a file upload field saves the files directly on your server.
  • You get paid: tuition is paid from the same form, with gateways such as Stripe or PayPal.

All of this is done with a single plugin, but with one condition: not every piece comes with every plan. Payment and other service add-ons are split across plans, so before building the flow check that the add-on you need (for example Stripe) is available in your case.

What happens when the form is long

Complex forms get abandoned out of fatigue. Gravity Forms offers multi-page forms and logic so each person sees only what applies to them.

Connecting the data to the rest of your business

A form that leaves data isolated forces you to copy it by hand. Gravity Forms integrates with services such as Mailchimp, Salesforce, Zapier, Slack, Dropbox, Helpscout or PayPal, and the most common ones have dedicated add-ons. If you work with automations, Zapier lets you send submissions to other tools. For more elaborate approval flows there is Gravity Flow, a separate product that is not part of the plugin.

Accessible forms from the start

If your site belongs to a public body, a university or a nonprofit, accessibility matters. Gravity Forms includes semantic HTML, ARIA labels, keyboard navigation and understandable error messages, aiming at forms that comply with WCAG 2.1 AA. Keep in mind that the final accessibility of the page also depends on your theme and the rest of your content.

Frequently asked questions about Gravity Forms

Do I need to know how to code?

Not for the usual work: creating, editing, duplicating and previewing forms is done from the visual editor.

Can it take payments?

Yes, it can handle enrollments, donations, subscriptions or product sales by connecting a gateway with its API key. You need an account with that gateway.

Is it a full online store?

No. Gravity Forms handles forms and the payments tied to them, not a catalog with a cart and stock.

Can I try it first?

There is a demo where you can try the editor and see whether it fits your case.
