About Gravity Perks Media Library
A form with file uploads usually ends the same way: photos and documents sit in an uploads folder that WordPress does not recognize as media, so you cannot use them as a featured image, insert them into a page, or run them through your image optimizer without copying them by hand. Gravity Perks Media Library changes that destination: whatever the visitor uploads goes into the Media Library as if you had uploaded it yourself.
One submission, start to finish with Gravity Perks Media Library
Imagine a site where users send photos of their projects. This is how the process would go:
- Step 1, the field. You add a file upload field to the form and, in the Perks tab, tick the option to upload to the Media Library. There are no other required settings.
- Step 2, the submission. When the visitor submits the form, each file is imported into the Library. It works with a single file and with multiple uploads.
- Step 3, the processing. Because the import follows the same path as a manual upload, WordPress generates the copies at different sizes and third-party plugins do their job, for example an image optimizer or one that sends files to cloud storage.
- Step 4, the notice. In notification emails and confirmation messages you can display the uploaded image with merge tags and choose the size.
Image merge tags: a thumbnail in the email, not the original
Showing a photo of several megabytes in an email is a bad idea. With the image merge tags you choose among the four standard WordPress sizes (thumbnail, medium, large and full) and up to four custom sizes per field. One important detail: the tags appear for every upload field, but they only work well with images. If the field receives PDFs or documents, do not expect a preview.
Advanced Custom Fields: one upload, several destinations
If your site uses ACF, the plugin integrates with image or file custom fields. This lets a single upload field, for example, serve as a post's featured image and also feed an ACF gallery, or lets the submitted image end up in a user's profile. Some of these cases (user profile, custom ACF field types, attaching files to the source post) require a PHP snippet; they cannot be solved with checkboxes alone. And to create posts with the image already assigned you also need the Gravity Forms post creation add-on, which is a separate add-on.
Questions buyers ask before installing
Does it work if I store images with a cloud service?
Yes, as long as that service acts on the Media Library through a plugin, because the file enters through the normal WordPress route.
Can I rename files before importing them?
Yes, by combining it with File Renamer, another perk from the same family: files are renamed with your template and enter the Library already carrying that name.
Does it turn on for every field automatically?
By default it is ticked field by field.
Does it work without Gravity Forms?
No. It is a Gravity Forms add-on and works on its file upload fields.
What to know before opening uploads to the public
Everything that arrives through the form ends up mixed with your own media, which is both convenient and risky: any submitted file takes up space in the Library and is within the editor's reach. Limit the allowed file types and size in the field, and review what you receive before publishing it anywhere.
