The personal photo blog EightyDays is built for, and the one that needs something else
Setting up a travel blog often ends with a heavy theme designed for shops or companies, where photos feel like decoration and older articles get buried after two weeks. EightyDays is made for the opposite case: a personal blog or a small travel, lifestyle, food or fashion magazine where images and text come first.
It fits if you publish regularly, want a clean homepage and don't need ecommerce features. It is not the right choice if you want to build a shop, a services portfolio or a corporate site: it is a blog theme and offers nothing beyond that. Also, the most useful features for a blogger (demo import, infinite scroll, custom colors and fonts, Instagram in the footer, related posts) belong to the PRO version. The free version is set up manually only and includes none of them.
A homepage that spreads visits across your best posts
Someone who lands on a travel blog through a single post usually leaves after reading it, because nobody shows them what else is there. EightyDays tackles that with three pieces:
- Featured content: shows your most valuable posts on the homepage in a tiled gallery, so your best work doesn't depend on its publication date.
- Related posts: at the end of an article it recommends earlier posts from your blog.
- Infinite scroll: loads more posts when you reach the bottom of the page, in automatic or manual mode.
Instagram in the footer and in widgets
If you already post your trips on Instagram, EightyDays can show your best photos in the footer and in widgets so readers also follow you there. It is a PRO version feature. Check in the demo how it looks before deciding, because it depends on your account having photos in a suitable format.
Typography and colors: what changes by version
Typography is what most separates a blog with character from a generic one. EightyDays integrates more than 800 Google fonts and custom color options, but both are only in the PRO version.
The theme is responsive, works in the usual browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge), supports widgets and is translation ready. It is designed to be lightweight and SEO-oriented, although final performance will always depend on your hosting and the weight of your images, which is key on a photo blog.
