About Gridx Personal Portfolio WordPress

Every card on your home page asks for something you can show

You open the Gridx demo and the first thing you notice is the order: one box for who you are, another for your credentials, another for your projects, another for your services, and a row with years of experience, clients and projects. It is a clear home page and also a list of questions.

In a card-based portfolio there is no long paragraph to hide what you do not have yet: every box needs its own content.

That is why Gridx is worth looking at with your material in front of you. It is a WordPress theme for personal portfolios, by WPRiver, with a minimal design and edited with Elementor. If you have not been on your own for long, check what you can put in each card before choosing it, and change or remove the ones that do not represent you.

The home page cards, one by one

The demo's home page works as an index of the site. Nearly all its blocks lead to a page:

  • Introduction: name and profession, with an image.
  • Credentials: link to the page with your background.
  • Projects: card leading to the Works page.
  • Blog: access to an article.
  • Services: link to the offerings page.
  • Profiles: "Stay with me" card, leading to contact.
  • Figures: years of experience, clients and total projects.
  • Call to action: "Let's work together," also leading to contact.

Animated sections and backgrounds round out the home page.

Your background, projects and offer on their own pages

Behind the cards, the demo spreads the information across simple pages:

  • About: personal summary, experience and education.
  • Credentials: on top of that, skills with percentages and awards.
  • Works: six sample projects with image, category, title and a link to their detail page.
  • Services: four offerings with a title and text.
  • Contact: email, phone, address, social icons and a form.
  • Blog: listing and article page.

The services page presents each offering as a title and text, without pricing tables.

Where each thing gets edited in Gridx

Content is edited with Elementor by drag and drop, and Gridx adds its own addons for that builder. The rest is split like this:

  • Theme options with Redux: menu styling, turning the preloader on or off, and the switch between light and dark mode.
  • Customizer: settings with a real-time view.
  • Contact Form 7: the forms.
  • WPML: compatibility for multilingual sites, without right-to-left support in its grids.

There is one detail to keep in mind if you prefer the block editor: the theme is not optimized for Gutenberg. Plan on editing in Elementor.

Three catalog portfolios with a different focus

Gridx is designed to present one person. Its features do not include a shop or a booking system, and the demo shows a single home page. If your case goes another way, these catalog themes cover other needs:

  • Tokyo accepts projects with images, Vimeo, YouTube or SoundCloud, useful if your work is heard or moves.
  • RyanCV is a vCard-style resume theme with twenty demos by profession.
  • Tapsi shares Elementor and Redux, and includes a child theme to keep your changes separate.

Importing the demo and adding your real data

Content is edited with Elementor, and the form uses Contact Form 7. The demo images are not included in the download, so have yours ready. One orderly way to start is this:

  1. Install and activate the theme, with the plugins it suggests.
  2. Run the one-click importer to replicate the demo.
  3. Replace the sample images and the filler text.
  4. Change the home page figures to yours, or remove the ones that do not apply.
  5. Upload your projects to Works and check their detail page.
  6. Send a test message from the contact form.

Practical matters when setting up Gridx

Does it work for someone just starting out?

Yes, if you can fill its cards with real material. The figures in the demo belong to a sample character and can be changed in Elementor.

Do I need to code?

For the content, no. Everything is edited with Elementor by drag and drop.

Does it have a blog?

Yes, with a post listing and an article page.

Can I add testimonials or a client carousel?

Yes, they can be added, although the demo pages do not show them.

Does it have dark mode?

Yes, the switch between light and dark mode is in the theme options.
