About Groundhogg - Contact Form 7
Everything they told your form stays in an email
Someone asks for a quote. In your form they tick the service they want and write when they need it. An email reaches you, you reply and you get on with your day. Two weeks later you want to pick the conversation back up, and that information is buried in the inbox, connected to nothing.
Every field on your form can be raw material for follow-up, as long as the answer lands somewhere it can be used again.
Groundhogg Contact Form 7 Integration carries those answers into Groundhogg, the CRM and automation system that runs inside WordPress. Your form stops ending in an email notice and starts creating a contact and launching a flow.
The path of a submission into the CRM
- A new contact for each submission. The form creates a contact in Groundhogg, on top of the usual one-off email.
- Saved answers. What the person writes is stored as contact meta.
- Field mapping. Each field can go to a default contact field or to custom metadata.
- A trigger in the flow editor. A Contact Form 7 benchmark starts a flow when a lead or a quote request arrives.
- Data available in emails. What is stored can be used in follow-up messages.
- Your forms as they are. The connection does not make you change the ones you already have.
You can also use Contact Form 7 in place of Groundhogg's own form, if you would rather stay with the builder you know. Contact Form 7 is free, lightweight and has spam protection with Akismet and Google reCAPTCHA.
Choose which answers deserve to stay
Before mapping anything, look at your form and split its fields into two groups. Name, email and phone usually have a natural home among the default contact fields.
The other group is what gives this connection its value: whatever is specific to your business. If you ask which service someone is after or what date they have in mind, that detail fits as custom metadata and you can use it later in a follow-up email.
Three jobs that are still yours
Writing the sequence. The connector starts the flow, but you create the steps and emails in Groundhogg. An empty flow will not do any follow-up.
Designing the form. Fields are created in Contact Form 7. This add-on connects, and a builder of its own is not among its features.
Dealing with what already came in. Importing past submissions is not among its features.
Connecting your first form
You need Groundhogg and Contact Form 7 installed and active on the same site, because this add-on joins them and does not work on its own. With that ready, follow this order:
- Install and activate the add-on.
- Open the Groundhogg flow editor and add the Contact Form 7 benchmark.
- Map each field to a contact field or to custom metadata.
- Then add the follow-up emails you want to send.
- Fill in the form with an email of your own and check the contact created.
If your forms live in another plugin
Groundhogg has equivalent connectors for other tools. Groundhogg WPForms starts flows when a form is submitted and also links entries to the contact record. Groundhogg Fluent Forms maps Fluent Forms fields to contact fields.
If you have not chosen a CRM yet, FluentCRM Pro is also hosted in your WordPress and keeps contacts and campaigns in tables in your own database.
Contact Form 7 and Groundhogg, case by case
Does it work without Groundhogg?
No. It is a Groundhogg add-on and it also needs Contact Form 7.
Do I have to rebuild my forms?
There is no need. Your current forms can stay as they are.
Can I save fields other than name or email?
Yes. Any field you map as custom metadata becomes available for your emails.
Does it work for quote requests?
Yes. The benchmark can start a flow when you receive leads and quote requests.
Does it replace the Groundhogg form?
It can: Contact Form 7 takes that role if you prefer its builder.
Is the spam protection kept?
Akismet and Google reCAPTCHA belong to Contact Form 7, and this connector works on those same forms.
