About MEC Ticket and Invoice

Selling tickets is half the job; the other half happens at the door

Running an event with ticket sales seems simple until the day arrives: queues at the entrance, people who say they bought and can't be found on any list, the same ticket shown by two people, and a corporate client asking for an invoice with their VAT. MEC Ticket and Invoice is an addon for Modern Events Calendar built for the moment when the event stops being a web page and becomes people holding a phone.

Event organizers tend to put their energy into promotion and sales, and leave access control for the last minute. That is where data gets lost, tickets get duplicated and complaints pile up. This addon focuses on that part: issuing the ticket, verifying it and documenting the sale.

QR check-in and roles for whoever controls the entrance

Tickets include a QR code that is registered from a smartphone. What makes the system useful in practice are these pieces:

  • QR check-in: you scan the ticket and it is marked as checked in.
  • Verification per booking: you can review all the tickets issued in a single booking.
  • Check-in roles: you define who can manage and check tickets.
  • Unchecking guests: if you register someone by mistake or they need to re-enter, you can remove the mark and check them in again.
  • Status column in the attendee list: it shows who has already checked in.
  • Checked attendees page: a page is created to see the list and the check-in status live.

PDF invoices with your company details

You can include your company details on the invoice, such as VAT, address and logo, and the customer receives it as a PDF by email along with the ticket. There are templates for tickets and invoices, and from the back-end you can manage invoices in addition to scanning codes.

This solves the typical request from someone buying on behalf of a company. But be clear about what it is not: the addon is not a standalone store or a payment gateway on its own. It requires MEC Pro, is a complement to the calendar and does not work alone. Nor should you assume it replaces your tax advisor: check with your accountant what an invoice must include in your country.

Frequently asked questions about MEC Ticket and Invoice

Does it work without Modern Events Calendar?

No. It is an addon and needs MEC Pro installed.

Can I let door staff register attendees without giving them the whole admin area?

Yes, with check-in role management you choose who takes care of checking tickets.

What if I checked someone in by mistake?

You can uncheck the guest and check them in again when needed.

Can I bring in bookings I already had?

Yes, the addon lets you import previous bookings so you don't lose data.

Previous bookings are imported before you start using it

Before your first real event, run a complete test: buy a ticket, check that the ticket and the PDF invoice arrive with your logo and tax details, scan the QR with the phone of the person who will be at the door and review the attendees page. If something fails, better that you see it and not an attendee in the queue.
