About Modula - PRO
Photographer whose clients pick photos instead of just looking at them
Uploading a shoot to your site and getting an email back that says "number 3, number 14 and the one on the right" is a classic of the trade. Modula - PRO is made for people who need more than a pretty grid. If all you want is a three-photo carousel or a simple album for a personal blog, you will have more tools than you will use.
It is not a sales or storage service either: it is a gallery plugin inside WordPress, and it works with any theme.
Ten layouts, from masonry to polaroid, video included
A portfolio gallery should not look the same as a recipe or car gallery. Modula offers ten gallery layouts, including:
- Masonry: a flowing layout that adapts to photos of any size.
- Justified and uniform grid: tidy rows, useful when everything must line up.
- Polaroid, Story and Parallax Masonry: designed to give a more editorial or narrative feel.
- Slider, Creative, BnB, custom grid and video gallery: for more specific cases, such as mixing photos and videos.
It also includes more than 40 hover effects. Version 3.0, currently in beta, rebuilds the editor with visual editing and lets you fine-tune the effects or create your own, so it is worth knowing which version you have in front of you before looking for a specific feature.
Protecting your photos: right-click blocking, masked URLs and password-protected galleries
Anyone who lives off their images knows a published photo is a copyable photo. Modula combines several layers:
- Right-click and drag-to-save disabled on every image.
- Image blur when someone tries to grab it.
- File path masking, to make hotlinking and direct downloads harder.
- Image sitemaps, so Google indexes them.
- Password-protected galleries, for clients or private events.
- Permissions by role or user group to view and edit each gallery.
No browser-side protection is absolute: anyone determined can take a screenshot. It stops casual copying, it does not lock down a file.
Photo selection by the client inside the gallery itself
The proofing system lets the client tick the images they want to keep and submit their selection without leaving the gallery, with no email threads or spreadsheets. Combined with a password-protected gallery, it becomes a private delivery. There are also comments on images, filtering and sorting by category (the gallery rearranges itself instantly) and a lightbox with autoplay slideshow, fullscreen, zoom, thumbnails, share and download, plus keyboard and touch gestures.
If your case is a portfolio with no clients reviewing images, you will not need any of this, but it does not get in the way either.

Yes, there is a video gallery layout and the plugin works with photos and videos.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You choose the layout, add the photos or videos and publish, no code.
Does it work with my theme?
It is designed to work with any theme. Even so, check the result on a test page.
Is it good for delivering photos to clients?
Yes: password-protected galleries, image selection by the client and comments on each photo.
Does it fully protect my images?
It stops common copying (right-click, dragging, direct download), but it does not prevent a screenshot.
