Every direct booking is a commission you do not pay
Booking platforms take between fifteen and twenty per cent of every night. On an apartment turning over thirty thousand a year, that is five thousand gone without anything being done differently. Which is why the point of an accommodation's own website is not to compete with those platforms, it is to win back the guest who already found you there so that next time they book directly.
MotoPress Hotel Booking turns WordPress into that booking engine, with no commission per booking or per property.
What it manages
- Unlimited accommodations, with gallery, services, bed types, maximum occupancy and size.
- Seasonal rates, with different prices by period, weekends, long stays or guest count.
- Real-time availability search, suggesting accommodations by dates and number of people.
- Extra services, free or paid, added by the guest at booking: breakfast, cot, transfer, final cleaning.
Synchronising with the platforms
Here is the feature that matters most and the one worth understanding properly. The plugin exchanges calendars by iCal with Booking.com, Airbnb and others, so a booking made there blocks the dates on your site and the other way round.
Now the small print, which the product page rarely explains: iCal is not instant. Each platform checks the calendar every so often, and two bookings for the same dates fit inside that interval. In low season nothing happens. A fully booked bank holiday is exactly when it can. If you work several channels at high occupancy, what you need is a channel manager with a direct connection, which is a different category of product and carries a monthly cost.
Taking payment
Out of the box it supports PayPal, bank transfer and payment on arrival, with the option to charge the full amount or only a deposit, fixed or as a percentage. For card payments with Stripe and other gateways there is an add-on connecting to WooCommerce.
