About MultiPOS - Point of Sale for WooCommerce
The physical shop and the online shop do not agree
It is the problem of any business with a counter and a website. One unit left. Somebody buys it online while a customer is paying for it at the till. One of the two is getting an apologetic email, and neither comes back with the same confidence.
MultiPOS puts the physical till inside WooCommerce, so both sales draw down the same inventory.
How it is organised
- Several outlets, in retail mode or restaurant mode depending on the business.
- Cashiers per outlet, each with access only to theirs and with their own permissions.
- Automatic barcodes, generated by ID or by SKU, with bulk printing and scanner input.
- Configurable receipts, different per outlet, with a layout editor and size and margin settings.
- Inventory, centralised in WooCommerce or separated per location, depending on how you work.
Offline mode
If the internet drops, receipts are stored on the device and uploaded when it returns. In a physical shop that is not an extra, it is the difference between carrying on taking money and sending people home.
With a caveat worth understanding: while there is no connection, the system does not know what is being sold online. If you hold little stock of something with high turnover, that is where a duplicate sale can slip through. Not a fault of the plugin, it is what working offline implies, and it gets managed by keeping it in mind on one-off items.
What to check beforehand
The hardware. Cash drawer, receipt printer, barcode scanner and, if you sell by weight, the scale. Each connects a different way and not all of them talk to everything. Worth confirming compatibility with the specific models you have or are going to buy before calling the project solved: it is the part that produces the most surprises and the one a demo does not show.
